Cosmetic Repair Melbourne - Front Lip Spoiler

I nosed my car into a brick wall at 1 kmh, causing a blunt scrape/damage on leading edge (size of 20 cent piece) to my front spoiler.

Quote is $1200 for new spoiler.
Any recommendations for repair at detailer/repairer in Melbourne?

Thankyou

Any chance you can share more info like pics of the damage, year, model and is it insured?

Don't be silly…… Why would anyone need that to provide a helpful answer!

Just did some OzStalking and I suspect it's either a 2020 Mustang GT hardtop or a 2017 GT convertible

    1 km/h is 28 cm/s

    • That's 660 inches per minute!

My hips go about that fast…. 😁

Apparently OP has lips that go that fast 😮

I just got a bad image in my head!!

      good bot

  • Picture please

  • Try and find a scratch and dent repairer. A panel shop is always going to replace the whole part.

  • Umm - didn’t wanna admit it’s Mustang - 17 GT

I have a pic - see if I can upload it
    Thx

    • As long as it's not the 2.3L one.. haha

I would gently and carefully smooth it out with fine wet and dry sandpaper then just apply trim detailer to bring back the blackness.

Put the $1200 towards an upgrade for your potatoe camera.

      • Thankyou - that’s good idea and worth a try

  • Lower lip - centre

    Looks like unpainted black plastic.

For $1,200, I'll file it down until smooth-ish so it's not as noticeable and fix it when there is some real damage to it.

    • Haha I could use some of those cheap toothbrushes and my oral B!

      • Haha, didn’t realise you were the same person

finally some use for my cheapo toothbrushes .

I have a shitload unused ones left too

  • Buy some cheap black vinyl wrap and cover the entire lip. It might work out ok?

For a second I thought it was about botched lip which the op needs fixing

Dont sweat the small stuff and just keep driving it… Look occasionally on eBay for someone parting out a totalled one? And trust me, with how mustang drivers drive, there is ALWAYS going to be totalled ones being parted out…

      just keep driving it…

But not too many revs. Cheers

      • What ever happened to that guy?? He was a bit of a funny one!

        • +4

Legend has it that he accidentally hit 3100rpm and both himself and the mustang vapourised.

@MS Paint: I heard that he got pulled over years ago by a copper for speeding through a construction zone and that they are still standing on the side of the road arguing about it…

Fortunately plenty of them end up sideways into a tree/pole so the front lip isnt damaged.

  • Bumper now the best looking part of the car
