First Post. Be Gentle
Price is quite good. Just a little over the only other post on OZB.
I was able to get SuperCheap Auto to pricematch as my closest Total Tools had none in stock.

  • Century batteries aren't what they used to be, do your research before forking out your hard earned for one.

    • Do you have any links? I'm looking at replacing my Yuasa starter with equivalent Century as reviews have been good.

Nearly bought this last week for $261 but sale has ended and now $328

Made by the same company so I couldn't imagine that the equivalent battery you're after would be much, if not any different functionally.

Where are you in Australia ? The Exide Extreme equivalent is $195 - https://moorabbinbatteries.com.au/products/exide-suv-4wd-die… - I think that is the same fitment, but double-check first !! Dimensions, output, terminals, look like they match…

        • Where are you in Australia ?

Sydney. Thanks for the link, is Exide better than Yuasa/Century or just cheaper?

          • +1

@OzBragain: Cheaper, but the quality is "fine" - stick to the red top Extreme models because they don't cost much more than the standard models. You'll need to find a local supplier because batteries don't really ship well !!

You can also get these from Costco if you're a member, and from Bunnings but Bunnings sell them for inflated prices.

            • @Nom: Thanks. My starter battery lasts about 7 years and I spend a bit of time in the bush so happy to fork out a bit more on a better battery

    • To be fair, that can be said for pretty much all retail car batteries these days. I go for the compatible brand/model with the longest warranty and take a photo of the receipt. That way you'll at least get the length of the warranty period.

But I prefer Supercharge over Century and Exide these days.

    • Kind-of agree with this. Back in Dec 2019, I bought a stop-start ESS battery from Century, with 3yr warranty. The car started reporting voltage issues with the battery at the 3.5yr mark. It would no longer allow the stop/start feature to function. It would have been cheaper to buy the two of the cheaper 2yr warranty batteries than buy that 3yr warranty one.

Good price. Also got SCA to price match Total Tools, and used gift cards to bring to around $235.
Ordered, picked up, installed within a couple of hours.

    Yaay,
    Congrats on your first post.

    Nice find.

  • I have a 2021 4x4 Hilux and this battery fits my car. I bought this one recently, however, which is the equivalent model in a different brand. It's a couple of dollars more ($255.99) but a 50 month warranty compared to Century's 40 months.

I always go for the longest warranty I can find. I've had to claim a few times over the years.

  • My ford battery (century 67ef mf) is 7 years old next month and still going fine. Car is used for multiple trips every day. I do just on 30k kms p/a. I’m in Canberra where the temp fluctuates between -5 and 35c (very occasionally colder or hotter).

This seems pretty good to me. If it goes too much longer I might consider believing in god.

You really need to have the battery tested when you buy it. This is rated at 760cca. The test is done at negative 16 degrees C AFTER 1 minute of cranking. In my experience it should read about 860cca at 25 degrees. I went to buy a new cranking battery last week. 4 of the 5 tested didn't even meet their stated CCA. They were supercharge (my preferred choice) panasonic exide varta. As much as I havent been a fan of century batteries in the last 10 years I ended up going century as it tested 15% higher than rated. BtW i have 20 vehicles in my colle tion so I have learnt a fair bit about batteries over the years.
