1630

St George, Bank of Melbourne, BankSA eligible card required. $50 spend on any gift card on the App.

Similar to previous deal

If you haven’t got these cards yet, it may be worth considering getting just for these GCs purposes alone. Probably the only avenue to best get 10%+ eBay/Amazon GCs these days.

Also the last month to sign up if you want the full $40 cashback from this deal: Open a Complete Freedom Account & Spend $40 at Coles/Woolworths Per Calendar Month, Get $10/Month Cashback (Max $40) @ St George.

SB Tech Swap has the highest cashback rate if you want eBay, 2.5% and also includes The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Catch, Bing Lee and Streamotion (it's a Prezzee card).

I think the 30 Sept 2024 is the actual last date to OPEN the account. To my understanding, even if you open it on the 30 Sept, you then have up to Oct/Nov/Dec 2024 and Jan 2025 to actually earn the $10 per month *4 = $40. Correct me if I’m wrong ☺️
Therefore technically this is NOT the last month to open up the account?

      • You're right, not sure why I thought of it that way.

      • +2

Be aware a requirement is to open an account online, it wouldn't let me do it online so opened in branch and now ineligible for this offer.

  • +1

There is not even 1000 st George ozbargain users

    • +3

Which is odd because a 10+% cash back on generic gift cards would get crazy traction here and the only barrier to this deal is a free transaction account.

And the deal has been repeated a few times.

    • +2

Which i guess is the point. They want to repeat the success of Westpac…. at the detriment of everyone that joined westpac due to SB.

  • Finally might put me over the edge, submit to the SB overlords and get myself a St George account

You'll have to wait about a week for the card - that was me last week. I just got it in time for the Amazon cashback, but missed the swap card one.

  • +12

I feel like Shopback is now cheating on it's long time Westpac partner and now spending more time with its younger hotter St. George who's into 3-ways with BankSA and BoM.

    • Which is weird because WESTPAC OWNS ALL THREE OF THEM

I’m angry at lots of things these days

      • Probably offloading the business to St George to convince them it’s time to hire someone who can make a proper app 🤭

  • +3

Another day, another bunch of shopback deals that are a slap in the face to people that joined westpac.

      i feel slapped

  • Nice 12% off fuel is good.

    • How'd you manage that?

  • +1

If you have an account with all three of St George, Bank of Melbourne, BankSA can you redeem each Shopback offer three times or only once?

And can you get the $40 account open offer three times - one per bank?

    • +6

You can't. I actually tried and found once I completed St George "challenge", it will show as "completed" in BoM and BSA too
So most likely you can only do "bank bonus" challenge once

      • Thanks - I was actually considering to open a BoM account

      • +1

For some reason my St George and BOM are linked in Shopback (I have a St George account), but now BSA is separate and is locked and challenges incomplete. I joined BSA as well and am waiting for the card to arrive, to see if it works.

Maybe different because I am in SA, not sure.

        • Please give us an update later hamza

          • @foxes28: Will do, if I ever get the card. When I joined St George they never sent the card and I had to request one, despite the email saying it would be sent in the mail, I had to pick it up from a Bank SA branch.

            • @hamza23: Had the same issue last year. After expressing disappointment, they agreed to send it with express post

        • I ordered a debit card from my St. George account, and they send me a debit card from BOM. I can see the same card number in both St. George and BOM account in app. It's strange they issue 1 card only for both brand account

        • +4

Update: The Bank SA card came in the mail, once I linked it to Shopback and unlocked the Bank SA lounge, the gift card challenges synced with the St George lounge and became complete. So you can't get 2 sets of offers, like @littlesoldier stated earlier.

    • How can you open a BankSA account with a VIC residential address?

    • Thanks all for responses. I understand that on the one Shopback account you can only ever redeem a St George or Bank of Melbourne or BankSA Shopback offer only once in total, even if you have a different card from each bank.

Perhaps not a question for this thread which is specifically in regard to the Shopback offer, but what about the bank's own $40 account opening offer, which is not Shopback related - can that be claimed by one person more than once if one opens accounts with more than one of those three banks?

  • I can't find this deal, is it expired?

    • Do you have any of those bank cards linked to your SB acc?

  • Can we split payment with shopback cash and St George ?

    • Nope, the full amount has to come out of the linked card.

      • Tx

        • Is that true, or is it ok along as $50 is paid by the linked card? For example could one buy a $60 gift card and pay for it by splitting $10 Shopback cash and $50 St George and still qualify for the challenge?

          • @davedave: Yeah that's fine. You just need to have at least $50 charged to the right card.

  • May have been run out. I couldn't find it.
