$5 Bonus Cashback with $150 Spend on Any Gift Card (1000 Rewards) @ ShopBack via App

950

Found in Gift Cards under Earn More. Finally a challenge where you can pay with cashback.

P.S. The ShopBack Supermarket Visa Gift Card has dropped from 2.25% to 2% cashback only today. Coincidence? However Mother's Day Super Swap has increased from 1.75% to 2%, ends on Sunday.

~5.33% cashback for Mother's Day Super Swap, ~5.83% cashback for Tech Swap.

  • aren't challenges usually completed once gift card cashback has tracked?

tracked $3 but challenge still says $150.00 to go

purchased Mother's Day GC fullfilled by Prezzee

    • +2

They used to, but since a few months ago it now takes ~10-15 minutes.

      • correct, just come through 😊 right on 15 minutes mark

  • +1

Finally used up my Coles Prepaid Mastercard, it took ages for a GC deal to come along that works with it. Originally I was waiting for Prezzee but they have disappointed.

    • Same. Bought Supermarket card.

      • How do you do this for $150? They don’t have that denomination.

        • Buy $200 instead…

    • Thanks for pointing this out. Was wondering how I could use the Coles MC for Aldi purchases, you just showed me how :-) Even better with some bonus cashback :-)

Don’t want shopback thinking $5 on $150 is cutting the mustard, will stick with the Westpac and StGeorge $5 off $50s , appreciate the post OP!!!

  • +3

Careful of the "rewards left" ShopBack scam.

They are fully capable of doing these challenges as limited opt in (as they've started to do with the last few Westpac challenges) but they aren't on purpose.

    Stingey

hard to buy this after the $5 off $50 that I just got for BankSA

    • Demand a min 10% CB or GTFO! :-P

Desktop link, also shows rewards left.

  • On Wednesday I bought 3x$100 supermarket gcs with coles prepaid digital MasterCards that were already on my SB account. I then added 5x$250 vanilla visa cards and bought another 2x$100 supermarket gcs that same day. Yesterday I bought 6x$100 supermarket gcs with the vanilla visa cards. Then SB stopped me from being able to purchase anymore. I thought it was a 24 hour thing but I can't can't buy any more today still. And I can't even add my remaining 3x$250 vanilla visa cards too. Can anybody shed some light?

Anecdotally, 7 day cooldown was what we ended up working out as I recall.

      • I'm assuming that's for adding more payment methods not buying the supermarket gc?

        PS lol @ whoever negged

        • +1

There were a few factors at play that we tested but can't remember the specifics I'm sorry,

        • RTA It was buying too many gift cards in a short timeframe (I think Supermarket Activ Visa was in play) but we could never figure out the trigger point. But yes definitely also adding/removing payment cards triggered cooldown.

          • @wavesgreen: Yes, once I removed a card and then tried to add the same card. That triggered a new payment method ban

          • @wavesgreen: I was finally able to buy 2x$100 SB supermarket gcs today. But I still can't add new payment method unfortunately.

And to clarify I actually bought 3x$100+1x$200 on Wednesday then 1x$200+4x$100 on Thursday. So that's a total of 9 over 2 days.

  • Can the below be bought with the supermarket gift card?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/843245

    • +2

No, only in store or on supermarket websites - not gift card portals

    • +4

      No.

      • If you attempt to add a card that does not support 3-D Secure to Everyday Pay on the Everyday Rewards app (such as the ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card), the Everyday Rewards app will reject the card.

      • The Woolworths Group gift card website uses MCC 5399 (Miscellaneous General Merchandise). That MCC is not officially permitted on the ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card, and therefore Blackhawk Network (the gift card scheme owner) should reject any payments from merchants using MCC 5399. (The Woolworths Group gift card portal used to use MCC 5411, but that changed around October 2023.)

      • The Woolworths Group gift card website will not process any payments from a prepaid Visa gift card if you enter the card's details into the credit card section of the online checkout.

      • I do not think you can add this gift card to PayPal in the first place (which means checking out via PayPal on the Woolworths Group gift card portal would not be possible).

      • +3

        Can confirm, no PayPal either

      • The Woolworths Group gift card website will not process any payments from a prepaid Visa gift card if you enter the card's details into the credit card section of the online checkout.

This isn't strictly true, crypto.com visa (it's a prepaid card) works. Probably more that it's rejecting non-3DS cards?

We did go through a months long period where it was being rejected but was eventually resolved.

        • The crypto.com card is a prepaid Visa card, not a prepaid Visa gift card. (The difference is that you can top up (or reload) a crypto.com card, whereas you cannot top up a ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card.)

I guess it is fairer to say that the website rejects Visa cards not supporting 3-D Secure, whereas it is more likely to accept payment from a Mastercard not supporting 3-D Secure.

          • @WookieMonster: Yeah I'm saying the ability to top it up doesn't classify it differently from a merchant perspective. It's in the same fee category for merchants and is indistinguishable (besides that some cards will support 3DS)

Shopback has been constantly dropping the rates recently.
It used to be $5 bonus on $50 gift card purchase, then $5 bonus $100, and now this.

I refuse to purchase as I don't want to let them assume this is acceptable.

  • +1

ebay gift card no more to be find?

    • +1

      Get Tech Swap card.

    • +2

SB Tech Swap is 2.5% and has eBay, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Catch, Bing Lee and Streamotion (it's a Prezzee card).

  • +1

Thank you no thank you. Simply not good enough.

  • Not touching SB until they fix their eBay fkup, this is a crappy deal anyway

  • +1

79 votes for such low deal. People are falling for anything.

  • +3

Thanks. Got 7 eleven gift cards that can be used to buy coles group cards at coles express

Is anyone else getting issue with tracking for this deal? I still can’t see it in my account.
