Anyone buying one don't forget to use the referral generator prior to activating the headset. $47 in Meta Store credit each for referrer and referee. Should be added to the OP.

    • added link now but not really seeing steps on how to claim it in the link.

      • +4

        It's pretty simple:

        1 - Buy a Quest headset
2 - Create a Meta account either on the website or the phone app.
3 - Make sure you're logged into your Meta account.
4 - Now on here, click the "Referral: random" button to generate a random referral link. This will take you to an "Accept Referral" page on the Meta website. Click the button to accept. It will now link the referral to your Meta account.
5 - Once the headset arrives activate it and you will get the $47 store credit. The referrer also gets $47.
6 - The credit shows up in the app in the "Menu" section, in the "Refer a friend" big blue box. You have to "Redeem" the credit before you can use it.

Also, it's worth writing down the name given on the referral page and the username at the end of the website address, or just take a screenshot of it all. In the very rare situation the referral doesn't go through you can contact Meta support and ask for it, but they will ask you questions about who gave you the referral. I'm not sure if that info is enough to give them to get the referral credit, or you may have to come back on here and try and track down the referrer by using that info (as Meta may want their full name, email address etc).

Also, you can get 25% off games by using the "Referral for Apps & Games" link on the Meta page on here.

          thanks helpful.

just for those new to meta it might not be clear and you could quite easily mess up the process and get nothing.

          • +1

@harshbdmmaster718: True! The main thing to remember is just accept the referral before you activate the headset and then you're all set.

    • -3

it was out when I checked a month ago.

only the 256GB one was available to add to cart. I even commented saying how “128GB might never come back in stock because it’s so old they might have stopped making them” possibly on that deal.

sorry can’t find it. might have been the deal before that one I linked.

      • -2

You never commented on that deal that’s linked in your description.
You commented the deal before that

        • -2

well I don’t know what to tell you because last time I had a look 128GB was out of stock.

no price and no add to cart button. it literally looked like it was discontinued.

yes that’s my comment but not the one I’m taking about. literally commented “it’s out of stock probably not coming back”. I’m still looking for it.

ok I can’t find it so I give up. just know I definitely saw just the 128GB unavailable to add to cart and even commented in response to someone about it. not trying to pull a shifty on you or the rest of ozb.

      • I only do PC VR gaming with my Quest 3, so it annoyed me when I have to play on the headset asgard's wrath 2 instead of a PC version like asgard's wrath 1… but it is what it is. Some people don't care about the storage of the vr headset because they run off of PC vr any where. Some care about on the head set VR gaming. its each to there own. Quest 2 is a great headset for someone that wants to dip there toe into VR.

        • Agreed. PCVR via Quest 2 is very good value for money. I still feel it compares to my PSVR2 given I can run PCVR games with Ultra settings.

          • +1

@Justin9mm: o it will get better the PSVR2 with sonys official release of PC support of the headset. Sony has been opening the flood gates to PC lately with there games, so we will see how well this turns out :D

            • @kungfuman: Really hoping this happens, been holding back from selling my PSVR2 since Feb because of this.

              • @weapon88: I would sell my quest 3 if the support is good for PSVR 2 on PC.

  • +1

Waiting for the Quest 3 512 to come back down again.. hmmm.

    • I think a deal price on 512GB will be roughly double this amount.

      isn’t the regular price of 128GB Q3 like $799?

      • Cheapest here on OzB that it ever got to was $799

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836846

Definitely buy it at that price next time..

        • +1

Unfortunately that was a bug. They swapped the 128 and 512's pricing.

Posted using my Meta Quest 3 512GB.

  • +1

Good deal if you want to enter the VR space as a casual.

  • +1

I think it’s the same price directly from Meta, $359 delivered. https://www.meta.com/au/quest/products/quest-2/

    • +1

just a FYI since they are the same price it’s better to buy from amazon.

if you have a problem just return shipping label and get your refund.

      • Meta is good too, I accidently bought the Quest from Amazon and Meta simultaneously, The Meta version arrived from I think from Singapore, not AU , They arranged for a courier to pick it up and send it back at no cost to me. But yeah I agree buy from Amazon Au get delivery as early as tomorrow .

  • $199 for Refurb plz

    • +1

keep checking regularly for the “save with used” option.

someone often has change of mind and returns stuff. I got a few things like that for lower price.

but the discount won’t be as big as you want. usually $20 to $40 off for “Like new”.
maybe $50 to $60 for something expensive like Q3 because it’s over $300 but really depends on the product.

  • +1

Good price. I'll hold on for a Quest 3 deal, the one thing that ruins VR for me.is screen door, and from what I researched its not and issue on the Quest 3.

    • +4

It's definitely better. Pretty much not noticeable on the quest 3. I'm absolutely loving the mixed reality on the quest 3 too. I'm actually using the headset for web browsing and watching movies way more than actually playing games. Definitely one of my favourite tech products i own.

      • Awesome, that's reassuring to hear. I can see myself using it to watch some movies and footy.

      • How does movies/sports work?
Is there like an app store or something where you can download netflix/Kayo/NBA app and watch movies/sports?

Also can you use it as a monitor/workspace to do laptop work?

        • +2

The meta store is on the headset where you can download netflix and i think prime video. Both those apps aren't great though if i'm being honest. Very low resolution and they haven't been updated for ages. As for youtube they've got an app and it's pretty great and it's being updated regularly. It now supports 8k streams too which is nice. Also you can use the built in browser for kayo, youtube, disney plus and probably others too and it works great. There's also an app called bigscreen too which is free on the store where you're able to watch youtube, disney plus, prime video and other stuff too in cool virtual environments. Best thing about bigscreen is it's a social app where uses share what they are watching on their pc so you can join with other people and watch movies, sporting events and stuff like that. It's very rare that i can't find someone streaming an nba game that i cant' sit there and watch with a bunch of people totally for free. It's amazing!

    • Said that this is not just discounted but also the new price for the Quest 2. Quest 3 will take a while to come down from what I see. While Vision Pro has cut production in half.

      • I definently won't be waiting for Quest 3 to be this low, it'll be ages, but when I see a decent deal I'll pull the trigger on it.

        • Yes and can always come back to this deal as it's been marked as long running now

    • I had to wear my glasses with quest 2, but quest 3 i can use without them. The whole screen is pretty much the sweet spot and dont notice the screen door at all.

Screen door is what made me sell my PSVR2 and quest 2.

You'll definitely love the quest 3!

      • Glad to hear about the Quest 3, super keen to get one. I read that there was no screen door on PSVR2? I purchased one but yet to open it and set up as I wanted to get GT7 and a wheel first… are you sure its not mura effect, which is a thing on PSVR2?

        • Ahhh was most likely mura, either way I was underwhelmed with GT7 (i probably set my expectations too high) but also only had a controller to play on.

That being said, the resident evil demo i tried did look much better and the OLED certainly added to the immersion given how dark it got, but i hate horror games so its not enough to make me keep it lol.

Would still choose the quest 3 over PSVR2 personally though

          • @R3STRIKT3D: Thats disappointing given the game I want to play most is GT7, I'm still going to go ahead and buy the game and wheel given I purchased the headset at launch so there is no returning it now.

  • I wouldn’t buy this, it’s been flagged as being discontinued soon, but if you want a cheap headset then…

  • +2

Keep in mind that there's going to be some new games you won't be able to play on this.

    Here's the list so far

You can still have a lot of fun with what's available for it though, and it's not like you'll get a 3 for this price.

  • +2

Would definitely recommend going for the Quest 3 instead it's well worth the extra $$ for mine.

Pair it with QuestGamesOptimizer and you've got yourself a top notch VR headset for gaming and entertainment.

    • why do you need to install an optimizer for Q3? Isn’t it the newest model?

If anything don’t you need to install the optimizer on Q2 to improve its graphics because it’s the older model?

      • It is optimising games, not the headset.

Games that were developed for Quest 2 don't fully take advantage of the Quest 3.
It fixes that. You could wait to see if/when each game releases a Quest 3 update, but most headsets in use are still Quest 2, so you may be waiting a while

  • I think it’s a good time to buy it, if you are not so keen on buying the latest generation. I have had this one for over a year now, only play a couple of favourite games, good enough for me, won’t bother if some games can’t be played on this.

  • I would say this is the best $P4P adult entertainment viewing device on the market.

One cannot truly appreciate the depth of beauty in 2D.

  • Can this be used without a Metaverse account ?

    • No, you need a Meta account to activate it.

  • I've been late to the VR scene but at this price I'm thinking of diving in. Do you think I should wait a few years until the Quest 3 drops in price or just get this one?

Also, I'm sorry for the stupid question but does this need to be connected to a PC to work? And how do you buy games (Steam etc?) Is there a general consensus where the best place is to buy VR games?

    • this deal isn't going anywhere, you should do some research outside of ozb

    • +2

If you compare it to the cost of a movie ticket, or going somewhere like FREAK or Zero Latency, its not hard to get your moneys worth in hours of entertainment quickly.

Doesn't have to be connected to a PC, but can be if you want to. Depending if you prefer standalone or PCVR may affect where you want to buy games.

    • +2

Up to you, Quest 2 is a perfect budget price to jump into VR. I got it soon after it launched and haven't looked back.

The Quest 2 is completely wireless, a headset and 2 controllers, that's it. Setup a clear space in your house, you 'draw' out the space for your guardian (when you get close to the edges, you'll see a grid start to slowly appear). You load up the store and grab games there, Beat Saber, Superhot, Walking Dead are some popular favourites.
If you have a decent gaming PC and wifi setup, you can run Steam VR games through and play them on the Quest.

You can watch 3D docos, and also browse your own videos if you have a media server, and watch them in your own cinema.

You can also "sideload" the Quest 2 and play a lot of old school games, Doom, Half Life, Quake, Hexen, etc. etc. which I highly recommend.

      • +3

It's good for the price, but the screen quality is so much better for Quest 3, I would never buy a Quest2 in May 2024, except if you literally have no money and can't afford Quest3. If you do have money for Quest3 but want to get Quest2 because it's cheaper you'll end up kicking yourself for being cheap.

  • It's been this price for the last month, clearly a price drop.

  • +2

Meta are clearing out stock to make way for the new 3S model which will be the new entry level model boasting the same colour passthrough and processor as the Quest 3 but with same lenses as ths Quest 2. Better off buying that model as its likely only going to be $100 more than this deal

  • +1

Tempted, but based on what I've been reading and seen on YT, I'll be getting a Quest 3

  • +1

if you got the budget yeah go 3.
but 2 is pretty damn capable.

    • +1

I keep telling people the same thing. 3 doesn't do much fundamentally different - it's just a bunch of incremental upgrades.

If you're not sure if VR is your thing (and for most people it'll be a novelty!), a Q2 is a better place to start, I reckon!

  • Nice there was a similar deal back a few weeks ago

  • I think other manufacturers will be joining in to the quest ecosystem so other units might be available soon.

    • Unfortunately the other manufacturers (Asus / Lenovo) that will be running Meta's HorizonOS won't be soon. They're at least 1-2 years away. And it's speculated they will be more expensive than any of the Quests, but probably have more unique features.

  • I really wonder if I’m missing out on these VR headsets. Are they really good and doesn’t make you dizzy or puts strain on your eyes?

    • Some people get dizzy or queasy but then again sometimes you just need to persist a little.

I don't normally get motion sickness and was alright playing all the room space games but when I tried a FPS (Pavlov I think) where I moved around in game using the controller sticks at first I couldn't take a few seconds without feeling queasy. Kept trying though and got used to it and it's not a problem any more.

They are lots of fun. Everyone that tried my headset for the first time was wowed and completely wireless VR at this price point is pretty good.

I'd love a Q3 but can't justify the money on it at the moment. The Q2 doesn't get used as much as I'd like. I used to have a big empty room that I could play in on a whim but now I need to clear the room, push furniture out of the way etc, it does make me play less.

My local library has Q2's available to try out, see if yours does too. Good way to try it out and see if you like it though you'll be limited on games to play I'm sure.

    • I'm usually terrible with motion sickness.
The Quest 3 is generally fine for this - greatly depends on the game.
Some games do cause motion sickness, usually the type of game that does this are the first person shooters or the ones which involve moving around.
Stuff like Beat saber do not cause motion sickness at all.

Definitely worth giving it a go, especially since Amazon has a no fuss return policy.
