Samsung Odyssey Neo G85B 32" Curved QLED UHD Gaming Monitor $1199 + Delivery ($999 with Monitor Recycling) @ Samsung Store

110

I've been monitoring the web in search for a good monitor and found that G8 is currently on sale on almost all major retailers. It's $600 off RPP with a $200 trade in bonus at Samsung Store, bringing the price down to $999. Keep in mind that Samsung is known to have atrocious customer service and G8 is known to have a few out of the box issues.

Wow my experience of Samsung customer support are perfectly represented in those store reviews. Just awful in general.

    • I'll never order large items from the Samsung store again. Smaller items like phones or wearables sure but never TVs, monitors or whitegoods.

Hardware Unboxed have covered this monitor in depth, including persistent scanline issues. See the video here, discussion starts at 4:20

    • You might want to check into the firmware updates for this model, as they've often been fixed without having to resort to any desperate measures (such as the terrible VRR control feature implemented on many of these models).

  • If you contact support and ask for a loyalty code if can get another 10% off and there's also 5% off first app purchase

  • Good price for the screen. That said, full screen brightness in HDR mode is not all that great compared to the much better QD-OLEDs now available.

The curve is also incredibly harsh and makes using anything with straight lines a bit strange. Spreadsheets, even tables in documents don't appear fully straight.
