portable outdoor cooking - not only directly by grilling or frying, but also indirectly by roasting or even baking
Cooking for a lot of people I get.
For me 8 people is a lot. :)
I can cook steaks or chicken for 8 people in one go in my Q2000. Outside!!!
I can do roast. Outside!!!
One 8.5kg LPG cylinder lasts LONG time.
But yeah, Q series is not a high heat series. It is pretty good for roasts.
Sometimes I want more heat for finishing steaks so I have to use butane torch. Sometimes I am lazy. :)
3rd gen got additional burner so it might be close to perfect for me but I haven't tried it yet.
8 Islanders who love meat?
The 2000 is enough to cook for quite a few people at once. The 1000 can even feed a family of 4. I have all 3 sizes and the one which gets used least is the family Q3000 as the kids have moved out or rarely eat at home.
Portability and size. If you don't need those the best setup IMO is a full size flat top bbq and weber kettle.
I generally take a Q1000 to the park or beach and have a BBQ there.
Just convienence rather than having to startup a charcoal fire.
Thanks for the input everyone
Really want one of these to utilise the gas outlet on my balcony.
Hummmmm but I guess it is a lot of cleaning to do for one person?
Cleaning? A bbq? Hardly. I might scrape the top with a brush before cooking. Maybe replace the foil drip tray. Maybe every 4-5 years give the whole thing a pressure wash.
If your balcony gas outlet is natural gas you're not going to be using this version. This is for LPG only.
Looking at nothing but the thumbnail and the price, I thought this was a Drone deal :(
DJs and DJI aren't quite the same thing
Got one at appliances online with my $30 referral voucher I got from OzB, cheaper and free delivery, thanks OP!
How did you price match?
Damn why did DJ have to close down in Hobart.
Albonomics.
DJ claims delivery not available and as such I'm unable to price match with AO, anyone have this issue?
Yep I'm having that now
I am getting price matched with AO, will let you know
just share link to both models (colors) so they can price match- it worked for me.
Did they not ask for a postcode to check delivery?
I was able to get price-matched, hope they don't cancel the order
they wouldnt..
Yep they've confirmed order and delivery organised for tomorrow
@abe465: Did they not ask for a postcode for delivery when price matching?
@penguinswillrise: They did
This looks like the old model.
Is it better than this? https://www.bunnings.com.au/jumbuck-2-burner-portable-gas-bb…
yes.
absolutely
If you're in the market for a Weber Q, and don't mind used, check facebook marketplace & deceased estate auctions.
There's tons of used ones floating around for <$100
Titanium/beige version, 2 reviews, 3.5/5
Black version, 9 review 4.8/5
Maybe beige shows the stains more
or perhaps particular people are attracted to certain colours - ratings, not reviews - only 1 review for beige, 2-stars:
For the price should have temperature gauge on the hood. Wish the starter was multi sparked same as a gas stove as it’s not easy to light or know the grill is on from one spark. Need to buy a grill stand as setting on the patio floor is awkward only Weber grill stands are an over priced accessory. Missing a bread toasting rack. After two dinners experience, cooks evenly and quickly for steak, shrimp and fish.
2 feedbacks on this review - both marked it unhelpful :)
Manage to pricematch with BCF as well, and get a updated version Q2000N :)
Which store? My local bcf denied upgrade and pricematch.
i did online and pickup from Mentone store
Thanks for the heads up. Second attempt at online chat price matched at bcf
Also managed to get bcf to price match the q2000n roasting pack for $28.00
What advantage does a tiny gas bbq have vs a frypan or ribbed griddle?
Charcoal I get.
Cooking for a lot of people I get.
This product I do not get. Remote camping / nomadding only?
Probably a great price.. but it's still enough to buy a great frypan/griddle.
