Is $514.02 the all time low for the 7800x3d?

    • +3

From an AU retailer / AU stock with retail box.

If you are willing to go AliExpress without the retail box and wait longer for delivery:
      AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU ~A$487.49 Delivered @ JS-Computer Store via AliExpress

However, some OZBers had reported they had to RMA their CPUs so warranty is potentially a factor to consider. AliExpress' long term after sales warranty is …….

      • It's probably cheaper again at the moment, but need to weigh up cost of potential RMA and the extra 2 years of warranty, yeah.

      • Wouldn't we just go to AMD instead @netsurfer?

Or if the store has been operating for a few years and is reputable?

        • From the comment I read in that deal, below is a quick summary:

          • An OZBer had a CPU which turned faulty in about a year, he went back to the store (BPC), the store did a test and gave him a new replacement. He doesn't think you can get the same kind of service with AliExpress.
          • Another OZBer reported he did receive a faulty CPU (dead on arrival) from an AliExpress purchase in the past.

If you need to return it to AMD directly, you will most likely need to post it (and there is a postage cost). Also, the RMA process can take a bit of time. Ryzen 7 7800X3D would most likely be someone's primary PC. However, it is unsafe to assume every store here will provide the same service (I doubt Centrecom will replace it on the spot). Also, a feeBay deal mean we still need to contact the store and hopefully the store provides a free return label.

      • 458.75 from that link although I'm not sure if that's with gst applied or not.

    • Nope. Paid 499

    • I just bought this from AliExpress during their choice day sale. I had to hunt around and wait a couple of days.

Paid $466 delivered for the processor.
About $50 cheaper than this deal.
This is definitely an ATL for this processor (local boxed stock) as I've been watching it for a few weeks now, across multiple platforms.

Good price but there's a reason, being that you'd surely wait at this point? 8600x releasing shortly is likely to trade blows with this in gaming, beat it in just about everything else, have AI capabilities, use less power, run cooler and be cheaper by $100 or so…

    • +4

Cheaper? Do you have a business card to support this theory?

      • -3

When has a 6-core AMD CPU released for more than $500AUD?

        (crickets)

    • +1

yes. you can keep saying this for any purchase

you buy mature products for a reliable batch, all errors buffed out in creating it,

buying an early release is more performance per watt, net power, etc

like buying an old plate car vs new plate, both new.

No platform on the market has all the issues ironed out, AMD or Intel… Even the venerable 5000 series still has USB lagging issues that come up to this day.

    • Or a great time to upgrade from AM4 while it's still worth money, can offset the cost of the AM5 platform upgrade real well.

    • +4

      8600x

It's expected to be called the 9000 series.

      • +1

Yeah thats true. Same same though. Next gen 6 core about to beat this hands down for less coin. If you've waited this long, wait a bit longer.

Buying a 7000 ironically will be pointless before a cheap 5000 CPU series is.

        • If it beats it on average, it might only be 10-15%, but I agree subject to use case as some people may play mostly games that thrive on the extra cache.

But I suspect the 40% boost we're reading about between Zen 4 and Zen 5 will have caveats beyond an edge case, such as differing DDR5 speeds being used for each CPU despite Zen 4 likely seeing benefits from the same sticks.

    • But $35 more exxy.
      Is there a code?

      • No, PLE has physical stores, for me it is just easier if anything goes wrong.

  • anyone know of a good motherboard to pair with this CPU? Would like to have Wifi

Just bought one last week for $574. As a lifelong intel man, im very happy. Card keeps really cool during all kind of things. For gaming, the hype is justified.

  • This CPU is so good you probably only to worry about upgrading after 5-6 generations I reckon

    • Maybe 3-4 years. So 3 gens max. 5-6 gens will be nearly ps7 territory. How many gens was am4?

  • I wish I had the time to post this yesterday.

    But I'm glad someone did!

  • For productivity which one better? this or 7900 or 7900X.

    • Just get the 5800x3d. You won't regret.

      • 7800x3d* …As long as you have a decent cooling solution

    • +2

I wouldn’t get any X3D cpu if not for gaming

    $514.02 + 4.99 ebayplus membership, pulled the trigger…ty

This is a tempting price. Might have to bring my AM5 build forward a year. Crikey

  • Noice price, paid this price for 5800x3d year ago

  • 447 au delivered on aliexpress

  • Received on Wed and installed last night, everything went smoothly and used it all night.
Wouldn't boot this morning, went through all the trouble shooting (reseating cpu, replacing back to 7600x, reset bios, different gpus, etc) and eventually removing the mem sticks got it to boot finally.

Figured out the 7600x could handle ddr6000/30 timing but this new 7800x3d isnt quite as stable so currently running ddr6000/38 timing.

Either way with my rtx3080 there's no difference in games I play @4k lol… T_T

  • Not sure if anyone will see this but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere the 7800x3d runs a lot cooler (77-80'c) than the 7600x which always hit 95'c while gaming for me.
