Home Fast nbn 100/20 Plan $59/Month for First 6 Months (Ongoing $89/M) for New or Existing Energy Plan Customer @ AGL

194

If you are an existing AGL Energy customer, this seems like the cheapest 100/20 NBN plan at the moment. If you aren't with AGL Energy, this probably won't be worthwhile for you (unless their Energy plans are also cheaper than your current provider?)

nbn modem/router not included. BYO device.

Doesn't appear to have any termination fees, so you can leave any time without penalty. (Looks like previous versions of this deal had a $220 early exit fee, but I can't see any such fee in the current T&C's).

EDIT If you do sign up and need CGNAT disabled, you have to call their Tech Support on 13 12 45 and ask for a "PUBLIC IP". I just did this and it took 5 mins all up.

MORE is cheaper if you are with CBA.

    $56.4 for 12 months.

    • +2

I think it depends what level of Yello you are, if you are the basic one with 30% off, it is more than $56.4

      • How do you get a higher tier of Yello?

        • +5

first tier is 5 outbound transaction 30% off
Second tier is 30 transaction 35% off
Third tier is you need to have a home loan with them( not sure about the transaction requirement) 40% off.

Not sure why I got neg with telling the truth

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Does transferring money out count?

            • @ozbmm: You can't transfer within your account, must be third party, it can be your account in ANZ or Westpac etc.

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Spot on.

All you need to do is reach the second tier once to grab the 35% off code.
Or, ask a mate who doesn't need the code.

      • How do you get $56.4? I tried Yello 30% off and it came down to $65.8 (from $94) for 100/17Mbps

        • I think if you have a CBA home loan which Yello give you 40% discount

    • Do you have a link?

    • -4

      More gives you less.
They throttle the speed (eg, for the 250 plan, it's usually only 80-100)

      • No they don't, I get full speed on their plans.

    • This assumes everyone has or wants a CBA account.
Doesn't make it "not a deal".

      • Calm down, I never said it wasn't a deal.
OP said "This seems like the cheapest 100/20 NBN"

        It is not.

        • The red icon next to your name says "not a deal" ;)

    • I just signed up with more and with a 30% discount off $94 for 100/20 plan it's $65 a month. I'd sign up to this if I'm with AGL when I next churn

    • How do you do this ? is there a link, I checked CBA Yello offer but cannot find anything relate to AGL

  • +2

$104 for 100/20 is steep after the initial discount

    • +2

$59 a month for the first 6 months then $89 after that, when you BYO modem and have AGL energy.

$104 a month when you BYO modem and don’t have AGL energy.

    • Only if you stop being an AGL customer…
Which you need to be to even get the deal in the first place

12hrs was enough time for to get out

AGL is the only company that has stuffed up my nbn port. I ended up staying with my current provider instead of stuffing around waiting for the port to happen at some undetermined date.

  • +1

Signed up today for $59 in Sydney. All good so far.

    • I would like to hear how you go past few weeks.?

  • +2

I recently signed up for AGL energy and internet, have had smooth internet service since then and internet speeds are usually around 100 mbps. I got 2 Eero devices from them for around $8.75 per month paid over 24 months

  • What’s AGL backbone service? Probably Vocus I believe

  • The major drawback with this, presumably, is that you are then locked into energy with them for 6 months is you want to keep the cheap NBN.

You could potentially churn 2 or 3 times in that six months.

    • -1

You're not "locked in" at all.
Switch NBN and switch your utilities whenever.

      • Yes exactly, you have to churn 2 services

    • Do you loose nbn discount if you churn energy provider?

  • Be very mindful, my personal experience with them was terrible! https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/cd0a6b2d-9726-5c6d-…

  • I'm on FTTP and I've been with AGL NBN on their 100 Mbps plan for nearly 12 months now, haven't had any real issues. I was on their 12 month plan paying $69 a month as I have my energy with AGL. As my nearing the end of my plan, I wonder if I could score this deal?

    • You will probably have to port out, Use the Aussiebroadand promo for one month free

      1 Month Free Unlimited nbn 25/10, 50/20, 100/20, 100/40, 250/25 or 1000/50 (New Customers Only) @ Aussie Broadband
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/844720

Then port back to AGL NBN.

Let us know how to port back goes you go?

      • Wouldn't they have my details on file that I was a previous customer?

  • +2

Just adding this here, to save people the hassle of trying to disable CGNAT (for those who need it disabled).

To disable CGNAT when on AGL Internet, you have to call their Tech Support on 13 12 45 and ask for a "PUBLIC IP". If you ask for CGNAT to be disabled, they won't know what to do. If they mention "STATIC IP" tell them that is not what you want (as it costs extra). I called them and asked for Public IP and 5 minutes later, my connection was on a Public IP.

    • +1

when would there be an instance where you would need to disable CGNAT?

      • +1

You only need to disable CGNAT when you need an Public IP address so that you can connect to your home remotely i.e connect to your file server while you are on the road.

  • I contacted AGL as an existing AGL NBN customer if I could switch over to this new plan, they said no. Only for new connections only. FML

$300 credit towards Electricity and Gas for existing AGL customers if you are signing up new NBN plans and stay for one month. Call them up if interested as it is not listed in their website
Just signed up 250/20 plan for $79.

    • Oh wow. Unbelievable

      • Surely they aren't falsely using the government rebate?
Wiser decision would have been to pick a different rebate value if not, sounds suss!

    • I'm Electricity and Gas with AGL. if I join NBN plan and stay one month, I get $300 credit ? and this is on separate from Victorian rebate that will come on July 24?

      • I asked the same. nothing to do with govt. rebates.
Other NBN option was to go with TPG to get one month free. Anyway, will find out in next 3-4 weeks when I complete one month and before the govt. rebates comes in July

        • Perfect timing for me, I have provided a cancellation notification of Exetel yesterday (they require 30 days in advance notice), my last bill is issued today at $80 (100/20 without promotion but $5 discount they offered), my last day will be 20 June with exetel, I will check early June and will organize ordering on Mid June (some NBN take 3-5 days, some connect immediately even though I put the scheduled connection). With $59 per month with $300 credit, it's alright to waste of 5 days.

How long did you take for connection with AGL?

        • How did you go? Did they credit you the $300?

I signed up 28th of May and will ask tomorrow whether this still applies as it was during the promotional period.

    • I called them up and they quoted this offer and said I can do it all online and they will automatically apply the credit after a month, no code required etc.

They said their system will do it all by itself, however I’m somewhat sceptical.

Next day NBN transfer actually went smoothly so let’s see if the magic will work behind the scenes to apply the credit.

      • Interesting… I wonder why it's not advertised on their website.

        • Top secret unveil through oz bargain.
I can't stop looking at Ozbargain daily.

    • Wait, i signed up electricity with their velo point and $250 credit last month and I just signed up for their nbn yesterday so does it mean i will have another $300 credit on top of it or not? Totally supposedly $550?

    • The agent told me that this offer expired last Thu 13/06. I only got $50 credit off the next bill (if I stay on the AGL's NBN plan for one month).

    • How to get the $300 for elec and gas? I called up earlier this week and was offer it, and called again now and the guy said it ended a long time ago ….

      • yea, it was ended couple of weeks ago. I got $300 credit for electricity. haven't checked whether the same got credited for gas.

  • +1

They just kept piling up the discounts for me…

You must be an AGL energy customer for gas or electricity, to be eligible for the promotion.
This promotion is on top of our $15 multi product discount when you bundle AGL energy and internet and starts when your nbn service is connected.

After the 6 months, you will continue to receive your $15 multi product discount every month on your nbn monthly plan fee if you have AGL energy.

Also, you will get a $300 (GST incl.) Electricity credit which you will receive on your electricity bill after 1 month.

    • What if I already received the previous $200 credit offer?

    • Only way to get this deal is to call?

      • I added it to my electricity account online but kept getting stuck in a loop at a screen saying they needed me to update my details. Got on live chat with what seemed to be a real human and they did it all manually. Took about 45 minutes though so make sure you don't have anything important on the agenda!

        • are you an existing AGL electricity or new customer?

    • You are lucky, Apparently, the offer finished on Thu 13/06. I only got $50 credit.

      • I called up today just to see if they restarted the promo but they said same thing, only $50 credit offer currently and they don't know if the $300 offer will be coming back :(

  • I just switched to AGL for Gas and Electricity to get $150 + Velocity points. I haven't received a confirmation that it's switched over as of yet. Can I call them up and enquire about this? Or is it best to wait until I receive a bill first.

    • It took almost 2 weeks for Electricity and 3 weeks for Gas to transfer to AGL. Velocity points took 30 days once connected. Download AGL app, it tells the status.

      • I checked it and it's still in the process of connecting.

  • I got a similar offer last year. I had a very bad experience with them - slow internet speed and useless customer service. I won't go back even if it is free. They promised to give me $50 credit as my gas is with them, I chased them many times to get the credit.

  • they kept trying to charge me for a fixed IP addon $7.50 a month after i'd churned elsewhere, so on a disconnected service.

for 3 months straight. every time i'd get a bill i'd and contact them and they'd assure me it's fixed. finally escalated to the TIO and we'll see if they can actually resolve it

  • Merged from nbn 100/20 Mbps $59/month for 6 months (For Existing or New AGL Energy Customers Only) @AGL
    Go to Deal

Not sure if anyone posted this before me. But I was looking for a 100/20 nbn plan and found this one. Seems like a good price.

$59 a month for the first 6 months then $89 after that, when you BYO modem and have AGL energy.

    Things to know

Typical download speeds for our nbn plans (7pm-11pm) are based on past measurements across a range of locations and connection technologies, and there may be times when your connection won’t achieve these speeds. Typical download speeds for our nbn plans (7pm-11pm) may increase or decrease over time and aren’t guaranteed minimum speeds.

A very competitive price but the reviews are terrible!

      • +1

I got it. Same as everyone else at this level to be honest. I have switched internet providers 3 times in the last 2 years and couldn't tell the difference.

        • they kept billing me for a static IP months after I switched away from them which was a bit different

          • @realaccount627465746: damn, hope you got a refund for it! They did stuff up one bill for me and got it sorted over the chat straight away,

    • +2

Was looking at going with AGL for the new sign up credit but their customer support is horrible, give them all my details, address etc, they still manage to come back with misspelt or incorrect details ended up just going with energy australia who seemed alot more proficient

    • Yes they are terrible. Had it scheduled to be connected with them on Thursday 11/7. Still not connected.
Now they claim issue with NBN battery which is totally unrelated.

      • How is it unrelated?

        • battery is used only in power outage m

    • Beware, these cost more than 50/20, but may make no difference to your speed.

I've tried the 100/20 and 100/40 plans with other Nbn fttn providers. I only got 48/15 and when I complained was told that the Nbn considers this acceptable for these plans, so wouldn't investigate.

      • +2

FTTN performance can vary wildly, depending on quality of your copper line and distance to the node. Mine was almost 900m from the node, no way to get anything beyond 35mbps. Best to accept free upgrade to FTTC or FTTP if available before upgrading your plan.

I didn’t bother to upgrade because of NBN monthly cost, have long abandoned NBN and switched to 5G.

      • It's because you're on fttn.

        • It is, but that doesn't stop ISPs from offering and charging for 100/xx plans. I didn't know why they offer these plans to fttn customers. I'm my case 48/15 was considered acceptable by nbn for a 100/40 plan and price, even though I'm less than 20m physically from the node and less than 100m from the node after allowing for the cable path

    • +3

I’m using it. it’s Ok. not as bad as reviews.

But I won’t suggest you to switch to it by yourself.
You should wait for AGL to call you, they will provide $600 credit ( $300 for gas, $300 for electricity) for switch to their NBN.

      • Is this promo still available?

        • No its not. It expired 2 weeks. They will give you $50 for gas and $50 for electricity for bundling with NBN. They'll give you $225 (but you can haggle for $250 max, mistake I made) additional credit for electricity and $100 for gas. So if you bundle fully, you get $275 for elec and $150 for gas.

          • @xNik: No, it's still valid. But you need to wait for AGL to call you.
I already got $600 credit on my account now.

            • @PeppaCat: How to get them to call us. I have electricity and gas with them. Want to signup NBN with $600 credit.

              • +1

@pluto: Try to do a quote via their website, but do not start the process to switch

                • @PeppaCat: Bugger. I switched a month ago and dont know this trick, let me ask the cust rep if they still can honour that

            • @PeppaCat: When did you sign up though? This offer was valid last month.

    • I signed up a few weeks ago, very quick process. Swapped from Superloop. Haven't noticed much difference, same download speeds. Only a couple times I have noticed some shows on Amazon Prime have a lower quality, not kicking into HD

    • +1

Highly recommend avoiding this deal given that AGL own Southern Phone and would be white labelling their service.

If you don’t know how terrible Southern Phone is look them up. Former customer here - and I never post reviews.

  • This is probably the only NBN reseller I'd actively avoid people going with. I had them for a couple of months and during that time had several outates ranging from hours to 3 days which were caused by their infrastructure and not the NBN side of things. Terrible performance when trying to actually use the service despite what the speed tests etc come back with.

But it's cheap and if that's all you need then maybe, if you rely on the Internet or like decent performance I'd avoid.

    • +1

I wouldn't even sign up if they offered it for free. That's how good Southern Phone is.

Constant dropouts and outages. No internet on Xmas day for example. Contact centre is located overseas and tech support non existent.

SP tried to blame this and that, restart modem etc but still no dice (It was like they had a DNS issue on their end not mine).

Switched to Superloop and the issues went away - proof it was on their end!

Have a look at their complaints rate to TIO if you think Southern Phone is worth their salt.

  • Weird thing was my browser was unable to load pages and have to wait several seconds to refresh and load them. Never occur when I am with other nbn lrovjt9.

  • I think i should put a comment for a fair point for AGL since many negs
I have switched for AGL electricity as the velo deal, during the signup, i forgot to put my velo number and about more than 1 month, when I called and asked AGL team, they said I didn’t put my velo number during the signup, they actually help me fix it up by registering the correct plan with my velo number and waiver my 1-mth electricity usage, my velo arrived 2 weeks ago
Back to NBN, I am on fttn, i did agreed it never reach 100mbps but ~80mbps which i found it reasonable and never have a drop compared to spintel.
