I purchased a faulty item through Amazon AU, that was fulfilled through Amazon US. The item cost $250.
Amazon approved return via chat, and said to drop it into a Parcel Point, but there are none of these within a 300km radius that i can find.
So they said to return it via Australia Post and they will re-imburse me with an Amazon gift card for the postage (postage cost is $145).
This does not seem fair, as I have to be out of pocket for $145 and from other accounts on OzB, Amazon don't always honour their promise to re-imburse. (+ I dont want a credit that can only be used with Amazon). Effectively, they are forcing me to purchase a $145 Amazon gift card.
Doesn't seem like a good outcome. Any comments from seasoned Amazon purchasers?
(And while trying to sort this issue with Amazon customer support via chat, at random intervals the customer service person will just be replaced with another out of the blue, and they then open with "how can I help you today". Very frustrating. This happened twice within a 45 minute period).
Try escalating it and see if theyll refund to a card?
