eBay 70% off Coupons for Phones (but Restricted at Max of $25 off - Impossible to Hit)

So this is an eBay seller, which is being promoted by eBay sponsored posts appearing in my feed promising 70% off with a capped $25 limit which is impossible to hit (the lowest priced item in this offer is ~$150).

These items are promoted as being 70% off upfront, with T&Cs buried in product detail pages.

Is this legal given its impossible to hit a 70% discount at all?

As I can't seem to post screenshots on this thread, the link I've used is the sellers most expensive item with the coupon listed, a ~$4400 Honor phone. Use the link to go to the seller's other items page to see other phones offered (it's a huge number).

    Is this legal

Yes it is legal. If you don't like it you should shop somewhere else that is cheaper. Not sure what the issue is?

    • I would’ve thought an unattainable deal would not be legal under Australian Consumer Law.

      • But the deal is obtainable? Deal is "70% off up to $25". That's obtainable

        • To satisfy both the 70% off and max of $25 an item can cost $35.72 or below.

If the lowest priced item is around $150 then the 70% is completely unattainable.
