      MS blocked everything that's not official I thought?

      You require a very specific ssd (WD CH SN530) for that to work, and I haven't seen any in stock at the moment priced at a point that would even remotely worth it.

        Or LiteOn XA1 (actually not really XA1 - that's the Microsoft P/N). Alongside CH-SN530, those drives are practically all salvaged from faulty XSS/XSX makes them quite expensive.

        An XA1@1TB with adapter would still cost at least $150 on used market (more like $170+ IRL).

        Given you can buy a used XSS for ~$250, you better off just copy games in-n-out to USB drives instead.
