Hey all
Was just thinking of giving More NBN a try with the Commonwealth bank promotion they have running. Currently with internode. Just thought I'd check if anyone has done so and if it was a good or bad decision.
Cheers

Good to know. They're laying the cable for fttp here now but said it will probably be another 6 months or so before it's ready.
I'm with more on fixed wireless. Speeds and reliability are as good as Aussie broadband (my previous supplier).
Customer relations and service is absolutely hideous though.
I have called once for technical assistance and the unintelligible overseas call taker was an absolute fool and had no idea except how to read standard customer service replies. The problem fixed itself within a few hours so likely an NBN Co issue.
If you require regular tech support then avoid them like the plague.
On more fttp.. No issues either and glad I switched with the CBA deal(s)
Been with More FTTP for 4 months (1000/50), have never seen the speed anywhere near that, it’s always around 100/40 (both wired and wireless) sometimes slower on weeknights.
Their website is poor, there is no app, their customer service is the worst I’ve experienced.
On your NTD, what colour is the UNI-D light illuminating?
It flashes green.
That's likely your problem. Green on the UNI-D means a 100Megabit negotiation. If it were Gigabit the light would be amber. Are you sure that your router's WAN port supports gigabit ethernet? Let us know your router model if you want confirmation. If you're sure it does support gigabit, then try using a different LAN cable between the NTD and your router.
@noz: Thanks for your assistance, I use a Linksys EA9500.
@eccaz: Linksys EA9500 has gigabit LAN and WAN ports, so it should work fine. The likely culprit is the data cable between NTD and router. Alternatively, in your router the Internet port may be forced to 100Mbit (you want it set on auto-negotiation).
@noz: Thank you so much! When I first switched to More the NTD stopped working completely and had to be replaced by NBN Co. For some reason when the new NTD was installed the cable between the NTD and my router was swapped for an inferior one, I didn’t realize until you mentioned this.
The UNI-D light is now amber and my speed is much quicker now (though still nowhere near 1000).
@eccaz: Good to hear. What speed are you now getting on speed tests, and the device you're using to conduct this speed test is is connected via ethernet cable or wifi? If wifi, then test again using a PC connected to ethernet cable (and make sure this PC is connected at Gigabit speed to the router)
@noz: A wired connection is getting me around 650/45, which is actually in line with More’s estimates.
I rescind my criticism of your speeds More, and thank you very much noz for solving my issue.
Started on FTTC, then upgraded to FTTP. No issues, the transition between the two services was smooth.
I had FTTN with more and it was slightly slower than Telstra.
Upgraded to FTTP recently 100/20 and it is alway stable at those speeds. No issue. In total I've recieved six month free internet, as I got three month when switched initially and then another went there was the free FTTP upgrade.
I'm also using their 5g mobile and it's fine.
Had good experience so far on FTTP. I canceled as their special deal expired. Cancelation process online was straightforward and completed within few hours. Never had to call so not sure how would that be. Overall good speeds and no problems. Recommend 👍🏼
Now who to go to next with some social discounted deals 🧐🤨
More on FTTP here. No issues and very good uptime (99%). Last weekend I had issues with network routing that made connections to USA slower but that was fixed after the weekend.
But… your mileage will vary, since you're on FTTN (as opposed to FTTP) there are quite a few variables that will affect network performance / peak speeds during busy periods.
