800

50% off storewide closing down sale. Godfrey's has gone into voluntary administration, but as per previous threads (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/840994), warranties will be honoured via the manufacturer.

Spoke to a store rep last week and he said that Bissell is one of the brands that are not under the Godfreys umbrella and warranty will be available from the manufacturer. At $189.50 - worth a punt

      You would hope so🤣

Thanks. Got the Big Green cleaner. Godfrey ebay store has online for same price. Plus used a code to offset the shipping. (HERE15 for purchase more than $250)

    • Thanks. Checking out their eBay store now

You're a legend. I didn't know they stock these and was on the look out for a Big Green for a while. I saw them hover around $1000 for a while and regretted not pulling the trigger but got it for $799 C&C on Godfreys.

Showing click and collect only now. Closest stores with stock to Syd are Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, Albury and Bendigo.

    • Campbelltown has a few of the pet vacs in stock but not much else.

Can we price match with JB and use some left over gift cards which saves another 5%

    • Nope…. they won't price match liquidator or going out of business deals etc.

      • Nope. I got them to pricematch a bissell hydrosteam even when the last godfreys store was 200km away from me.

  • Damn paid almost double the price a few months ago. Can confirm works really well on lounges, but forget about cleaning carpet for the whole house!

    • +2

That's why it's called a spot clean. Great for spots, not so great for whole rooms.

Works well for the whole car, just takes a bit of time.

  • Bruh are you kidding haha. This was $265.30 at Godfrey’s yesterday. I price matched at my local good guys in syd cause nearest Godfrey’s stock was Tamworth. How annoying!

  • try your luck with price matching at JBHIFI or other vendors. Not sure if they would accept because it says out of stock on Godfrey's site but might be worth a shot.

Generally it needs to be in stock, and "liquidation" is out of scope.

      • I price-matched JB with Godfrey's last week when they had stock but it's not gonna work I guess with no stock anymore.

    • tried already. no dice. can't be limited stock.

    • I called good guys hotline yesterday and price matched in about two seconds flat. Didn’t seem like the guy checked stock.

  • no stock

  • I went in to Godfreys in Hopper Crossing VIC today, and overheard that if there are less than 3 items left in the store it wont be available for Click and Collect. In other words, you can give it a shot to go in and check at your local, but YMMV. Was looking for a shop vac and it seemed like most of the items had at least one item left, so walked out with a bunch of cleaning gear as well for 50% off, good times.

  • Thanks OP got one in store

  • Damn, turned mine on last night and the pump for spraying liquid seems to have died. Have been able to get the flow of water going again, but no pressure.

Anyone else experience this with this model?

  • I borrowed a version of this and was considering buying one myself, until I realised they're basically just glorified vacuum cleaners having the ability to vacuum water and auto spray.

You might find you're better off just getting one of these for $50, its more cost effective, vacuums up a lot more water and almost double the power. I actually found this out after seeing if I could get more water out after I rug doctored a lounge, which it did, and then I thought why do I even need to rent a rug doctor or borrow a spot clean? Just use an external carpet spray wash, brush it in with a broom and then use the wet dry vac to extract. I tested this on another area and in the end it was just as good if not better. I used a wash that mostly consisted of this

Admittedly I do need to get a better attachment for vacuuming a couch or car seats. Something like this maybe It might not be quite as convenient for some, but I find I get a lot more use out of it around the house, even for heavy jobs like vacuuming up a smashed out door glass table and a bath load of water from a popped hot water cylinder, it was like having a bilge pump with float cut-off to empty. A lot more versatile.

That small vac takes up about as much space as the bigger spot cleaners as well, it is a bit dinky at that price, but its done some good jobs and already proved its worth.

    • Admittedly I do need to get a better attachment for vacuuming a couch or car seats.

It's almost like there's different tools for different jobs.

      • …its an attachment.

Most vacuums have more attachments, as this Ozito is quite cheap it doesn't, it could have come with a smaller water extraction attachment for a sofa or a car seat, after all its a wet vac, but it does have interchangeable heads unlike this SpotClean which is fixed.

I know it might not seem as straight forward, but all the SpotClean is doing is spraying and then vacuuming the dirty water; you still have to scrub a little. Why not get something for less than half the price of the SpotClean even on a 50% off special, that can finish off a spot clean just as well if not better, but can also do a lot more aswell? It will even finish off the larger tasks if you're cleaning up a large carpet stain from a leak like I was, the SpotClean wouldn't do that as easily.

I didn't really experience the value or performance other than a little more convenience when borrowing a friends SpotClean unit, compared to finding I could just do this.

Now that I recall, I've seen a lot of car detailers spray manually, then use a motor brush, and finally wet vac extraction, so it's probably the most effective way to do it anyway.

        • Because I'm not a car mechanic, and i'm not doing large ares. This is for one thing, which it does passably well, and all-in-one, rather than multiple, larger, bulkier sets of things.

You're not wrong about being able to do it cheaper. You'll find that's a trade for convenience with almost anything in life.

          • @Ademos: I'm not a mechanic either and was never ruling out the spot clean convenience, but a lot of people think those units are the only solution, other than a rental or a professional, when really they're nothing special.

Additionally the Ozito is half the weight of the above SpotClean and takes up approximately the same space in storage when packed together, it appears that SpotClean can also have various attachments too.

            • @stedmaster: I bought the attachments from Amazon on the back of your comment and can confirm this is genius.

Already had a wet/dry vac and your comment makes sense,. Much more versatile than a purpose made upholstery cleaner and does a great job.
Used it today to clean an office chair. Sprayed it with a mixture of laundry detergent and hot water than vacuumed it off.

              • @MadgeH: Glad I'm not the only one on here, It's even on the NZ OzBargain ChoiceCheapies. When it comes down to using the SpotClean or similar units, you're just spending all that extra money for the auto sprayer. They're not bad units, but they're a bit overrated.

I was thinking of trying one of these electric spray units, would be great a combo, but then I can also use this to blast the entire shower or the toilet in a quick pass or 2. I'm just not sure if it will foam or disperse well with a normal shower cleaning mix in it unless I mix with it with the right detergent, will have to test it.

But I imagine it would work fine for a normal carpet spray, then you have the complete functionality as the SpotClean for less than $100, but a lot more effective and also useful in other areas independently.

  • Grabbed one today at Gepps Cross (2 left in store)

  • The VAX branded spot cleaner from Bunnings is about the same price, and is absolutely WONDERFUL.

  • Thanks Op, got the $400 model off eBay using 15 off code as per other posters comment. Carpet + upholstery cleaner

  • Had a look and quite a lot of models still offered by Godfreys are being price matched by Amazon and or catch.

Worth considering those options at the same price for any retailer warranty issues, given Godfreys is unlikely to exist in any/this form within a few months time.

Also have had this spot cleaner for about 2 years and well worth it at this price. I use this one for car interior and quick spot clean on carpet. Got a hoover upright for the house carpet and rugs.

This will still do those but a bit painful to do larger carpet compared to a upright cleaner. Though they seem to be selling the 'lift off' accessory which seems to turn this into a upright……pretty pricey though.
