“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”

    • +1

Hence why we’re regarded as ‘Mostly harmless’.

    • +1

If written in 2020s, it would have refered to 'ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think smart phones are a pretty neat idea.'

  • +6

    this watch is eternal

  • +2

Great watch. Keeps very accurate time.

  • +3

This is pretty much the only thing off the top of my head I can think of that has pretty much not been randomly smashed with covid tax/ inflation. Every other classic like a168/ Casio Royale/ dw5600 etc I swear has had a bit of price creep over the years.

  • Great for a backup alarm to not disturb a partner too much, my current dumb watch has a low battery so reckon this is cheaper than a battery replacement (smart watch linked to phone, so if set wrong they are both wrong)

  • +5

The most reliable watch in the world!! read the wiki and you'll understand https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F-91W

    • +2

I thought I bought the "same" watch for my son…. Based on this Wikipedia…. I realised the watch I used to have when I was young is actually F-87W….

  • +2

    faster

Hope not, it needs to keep accurate time

  • Best gym watch ever !

    • +2

If you attend the gym to meet/impress the ladies then I recommend the Casio world time for great success.

      • Bought 1 to match my rw Williams shoes.

        • How does that match any RM Williams?

      • +3

I recommend this watch, you'll be the centre of attention

        • Is that you, Watchnerd?

        • A timepiece of understated tactful good taste.

  • +4

My go-to surf watch over the years despite only having Water Resistance rating. Absolutely bulletproof. Highly recommend

    • +1

JOMW proved its water resistance is much better than advertised.

  • +1

I want to get into stand up comedy. Might pick one up.

  • Bought one to use as a back up watch. Everyone get in on this before someone at G-Bay gets a whiff of this deal.

  • +3

    Best watch of all time

  • +1

Anyone knows how long the battery usually last on this?

    • +7

      7-12 years

  • +1

You are official 'old' if you've ever had one when you were a kid lol

    • +1

Me: a grown ass man with one of these in my cart

      sweating

    • I had the F-87W, even older.

    • +3

      Probably fake

      • +1

        Brand: Unbranded

    • +2

      These are fakes

      • Exactly, the F91W is the most faked Casio watch in history and any unit under $30 on eBay is fake. Thousands continue to be sold and eBay does nothing to stop it. I bought a couple on Taobao for 83c each. They are 'speeders'…

Genuine at Yodobashi Camera around AUD15

        https://www.yodobashi.com/product/100000001006250423/

  • I purchased this watch on Amazon.jp last year and it seems to go 3-4 seconds faster every month, the last time I adjusted it it was about 9 seconds faster than time.is, is everyone the same?

    • 3-4 secs is fine.

some have known to go up to 30 secs faster.

    • +1

Not bad given that a COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certified watch allows variance of -4 to +6 seconds per day.

    • +1

My fake Casio F91W gains 3-4 minutes a month - you are never late - LOL !

    • Casio's accuracy specification for the movement is +-30 seconds per month. If you are achieving only 3-4 seconds faster a month you are doing well.

  • +5

Best not worn at the airport, especially not if you appear middle eastern.

    • +6

Now you tell me. Bought it when I was backpacking and had some leftover currency waiting in the airport. So light you barely notice it is there. Battery lasted forever. Wore it for years travelling. Was a nice conversation starting point when in poorer areas and a local would point at my watch then point at the same watch on their wrist.

    • Now this is heritage

  • -1

    a blast from the past.

i would love to buy one for nostalgia, but i already have a ton of watches i have a hard time to put in my rotation.

  • +1

Display is a little small if optically challenged and it tends to eat watch straps…..

  • +1

Just got mine - easy and simple, looks good. Doesn’t have horrifically thin chain links for my bony wrists like other watches. Cheers OP.

  • Looks like the 158WA-1 good price as well for a silver band, watch face.

  • I seem to have 2 of these already in my little box of watches. I looked up today and seems there's 18 styles of the F91-W.

I don't think I'll get any of the solid brightly coloured styles, but I might slowly get the rest

  • Good replacement band??

  • Mine had dust collected on it when I opened it up, old stock? I thought they sell pretty fast

  • Grabbed one. Thanks OP

  • Ended up getting the F105W for about 13 dollarydoos more.
