Best Orange Juice at Colesworth?

Long time lurker first time poster.
What would be the best orange juice available at Coles or woolies?
I’m a fan of nudie, although that price hurts my ozb tight-ass-ness
Week to week I usually opt for original black label,
Additionally I have tried to juice my own but it wasn’t cost effective with pricing of oranges at the moment and annoying to clean the juicer too with that.
What is your favourite?

The $5 2-Litre Coles Finest with pulp has been my staple for years. You really don't need anything fancier.

I will admit that Impressed Essentials is the best of the lot but it's nearly double the price which isn't worth it.

    • Oh interesting,
I had tried the impressed brand but I didn’t Enjoy it.
Maybe I’ll give the generic coles brand a go with juice
I thought the home brand were ‘orange flavoured’ drink

    • Agree about Impressed. It's far nicer than the other options and often on special for $3

    • The coles finest looks to be the same as the one in aldi (for about 50c/10% less).

Can you taste the difference between juicing your own and the most expensive ones from Coles or Woolworths?
If you can, then all of them from Coles/Woolworths/Aldi are the same as they all have been pasteurised.
I can, so sometimes I buy the unpasteurised one from Harris Farm when they are reduced at $4/L.

I like orange juice where the ingredients just says orange juice. Which i think nudie is the only brand that is actually just orange juice.

    • Impressed is also just Australian orange juice

  • Your colesworths and origianl juice co's all add vitamin c to it haha. Some sort of artificial ascoribic acid or some crap. Theres already 500% vitamin c RDI in a bottle of orange juice. They dont need to start adding sh!t to it.

It's also 100% Australian oranges with no additives

    • Are you impressed by it

  • What is the best pineapple juice?

  • The cheapest one is good enough for me.. The savings make the juice taste better imho haha lol

  • Nudie, when it's on special.

  • One I can get near me, but I don’t know if it is widely available is Mumblepeg:
    https://mumblepeg.com.au/retailers/
FWIW I get it at a Coles not listed on their page.

The taste varies a bit during the year, but is awesome when oranges are in season.

With no added Sugar, not that you need extra and Australian OJ.

  • V8 but i like the green

Nudie used to be good, when it wasn't made from concentrate, now i find it tastes like the cheap ojs but with a very expensive price point.

    • I don't think Nudie uses concentrate

      • They never used to, but lately it tastes exactly like concentrate.

If you are so sure, report it to the ACCC.

  • Btw OJ isn't good for you. Lots of (natural) sugar. Treat it like a treat.

    • I also acknowledge that , but I do love a glass of it in the morning or in the afternoon

Supermarket juices, including orange juice, are pasturised and therefore are practically devoid of any nutrients and flavour. No vitamin C, no enzymes, no phyto-nutrients etc. Basically coloured water and sugar that has been fortified with artificial chemical flavours, vitamin C and preservatives.

I do not recommend it, but if you're addicted to sugar and need your daily "hit" of sugar, be aware the product is not natural in any way.

    • My understanding was that ‘with pulp also had some added fibre’

      • The fiber is also devoid of any nutrients. Goes in one end and comes out the other the same. The human gut can not break down fiber and therefore is not of any nutritious benefit. It basically assists in the passage of stools through the gut. A small amount of fiber is fermented by gut bacteria, but I don't know if this is of any significant health benefit.

        • Ah I see interesting.

          • @burgerfriesandwings:

            Ah I see interesting.

I think bigticket has had to much fibre that goes in one end and pours out the other.

            Do your own research..

For people looking to build muscle, fiber is great because the slow breakdown of macronutrients (proteins, carbs, and fats) gives your body more time to absorb them. But timing is important here. For muscle growth, don't consume a lot of fiber right after your workout.

            Why is fibre a nutrient?

Though most carbohydrates are broken down into sugar molecules called glucose, fiber cannot be broken down into sugar molecules, and instead it passes through the body undigested. Fiber helps regulate the body's use of sugars, helping to keep hunger and blood sugar in check.

What happens when you don't eat enough fiber?

Health conditions linked to a low fibre diet include constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diverticulitis, heart disease and some cancers (including bowel)

.Why is fiber an unusual nutrient because?

Fiber, unlike most foods, has the unusual ability to suppress absorption and digestion. Fiber depletes rather than replenishing. This is beneficial in the case of sugars and insulin. Soluble fiber inhibits carbohydrate absorption, which lowers blood glucose and insulin levels

BTW. There NO preservatives in Nudie orange juice.

    • BTW. There NO preservatives in Nudie orange juice

Juice is generally not good for you and nudie isn't really much different to reconstituted orange juice nutrient wise.

If you want to be healthy, you'll eat an orange.

  • I like "impressed" orange juice, but i don't like how they market it as "plant based" juice. But I guess they want to make sure you know you're buying plant based orange juice and not meat based orange juice.

    • I found the taste quiete lack lustre and on the sour side

      • I like a bit of sour in my OJ.
The juice used to taste better than it does now. Now it tastes a bit like cordial.

  • Member the Woolworths orange fruit drink conentrate. Use to come in like a 500ml milk carton to make 2 litres. It was so povo the ingredients said it was made out of orange peels . Said like ingredients: water suger orange peel extract 5% .
Use to mix it with goon at uni 😄

They still make something similar, but im sure the old one was just orange peels haha , this one is 20% juice 5 % orange peels. Premium! https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/785903/woo…

  • Pulp Fiction: Family favourite has been Aldi Pick'd 'With Pulp' for many years. Never too sweet, (oranges are seasonal / regional) and always full of pulp which adds 'texture' to your taste experience.

Here in Victoria it changed. Pulp has reduced by 75% and flavour sickly sweet in comparison. Household Aldi 'detectives' discovered, different bottle cap, bottle moulding, smaller labels, heavier dot matrix use by dates.

Same week off to Coles for their own brand "Coles Finest Orange Juice 2L" as above. Taste and pulp density was identical to new Aldi product.

Conclusion: Aldi could now be using same supplier as Coles and another decent Aldi product bites the dust and now wiped from our household shopping list…
