Yeah, I just wanted to check the price difference between a brand new one and a refurb and thought I'd post it.
Almost grabbed the 77 at 3.6k 2 days ago from this deal.

You could but it might be missing features like standby and wake. It's also big so you need a deep desk or to wall mount it around a metre away. I've got a 48 inch monitor and have a 90cm deep desk and a beefy monitor stand.
Can someone comment on Sony's refurb/box damaged listings in general?

Same as above. Got a "damaged box" Sony TV from their ebay store a few years back, and a brand new tv, in a perfectly undamaged box arrived. No problems since.
I bought a Sony KD50X85K (box damaged) six months ago. The only damage to the box I could see was from me enthusiastically dragging it through the front door after it had been delivered. The TV survived unscathed.
Seems like it has pretty bad reviews?

Yeah agreed. Plenty of cheap QLED tvs at this size and price.
