Yes valid concern, but turned out not to bother me as it's so small\convenient, I still use the phone for everything while it's attached, so really doesn't matter if it takes longer.
There is also the argument that wireless charging damages the phone.
wireless charging is no more damaging than standard charging, though depending on the powerbank you need to watch the heat level (but just as much an issue if not more so when plugged in if you have it magnetically attached).
Pretty sure it was car wireless charging that killed my previous iPhone. While Wireless charging itself may be fine, my phone gets a lot hotter when charging wirelessly compared to the cable\likely due to the contact, and as you say it's the head that does the damage. Water cooled wireless charging?
@UltimateAI: yep that is just bad design by Apple. Apple have always been awful when it comes to designing for heat dissipation, choosing aesthetics over function.

Using your phone in the car \ holder while charging (wireless) is the worst possible combination for battery life with an iPhone.
Wife's car put in a cheap CarPlay unit from AliExpress, and due to the phone screen being off, there is no real need to charge \ power the phone in the car. Even when charging with the screen off, the phone is staying cool.
The cheap unit, more than paid for itself by preserving iphone battery health…
@UltimateAI: If the wireless charging coils are perfectly aligned (e.g. MagSafe), then the heat generated should be near negligble.
Thankfully this should soon be the standard with Android phones which utilise the new Qi2 wireless standard.

Power banks generally have 60~80% efficiency, lesser-known cheaper brands typically on the lower end of that scale. Adding a wireless charger is going to take away another 60~70% of the already reduced usable capacity, leaving you with less than half the advertised capacity. Not to mention using a wireless charger on the go is also not as practical as using a wired charger as the phone can easily get dislodged and charging at 7,5W is quite slow. IMHO you are better off buying a 5000mAh power bank and use it with a cable.
Disagree I have this and as my phone case has magsafe, it's super convenient. No cables, no fuss, can just use my phone normally with this attached, or place in my bag,

My phone supports 30W charging, which I’m guessing is at least 5x faster than 7.5W wireless charging (accounting for wireless charging inefficiency), meaning an hour of wireless charging translates to 10~12mins of wired charging. I’d rather have my phone plugged in for 10 mins than having to carry it with a bulky battery attached to the back for an hour. Each to their own…
I agree 7.5W is too slow to be overly useful.
But a couple of things to add in terms of efficiency.
Power bank efficiency losses when phone charging are usually around 10% to 15%. Any more than about 20% is usually under spec cells (which is common), rather than efficiency losses.
Wireless charging losses are very variable, but with a quality 15W charger and good alignment I've been able to reach as little as 15% losses. But with bad alignment, you can reach near 100% losses.
Magnetic (Magsafe) generally gives good alignment, but magsafe cases for Android phones can be hit and miss. EG, with the Pixel 7 Pro, almost every Amazon magsafe compatible case has the wrong alignment. It will charge, but slowly and very inefficiently.
The other thing is not all testing I have seen breaks down and makes a good comparison with the figures. They also often don't convert properly between power bank mAh and phone mAh, which use a different nominal voltage.
EG, a 10,000 mAh at 3.6v (36Wh) power bank maybe have 8500 mAh (30.6Wh) available after losses. Charging a phone via a wired connection means after losses in the phone, 6,800 mAh (24.5Wh) will actually make it into the phones battery. So ~1.27 charges of a 5,000mAh at 3.85V (19.25Wh) phone.
The same power bank but with 15W wireless charging has similar voltage conversion losses producing 9V for the charging coil and similar charging losses in the phone. But for example, in testing I have done (with good alignment), I can get about 5,300 mAh (19.1Wh) which does around 1 full charge of the phone. The extra losses from the wireless charging are about 22%.
The end result is still that only about 50% of the original power bank capacity actually makes it into the phones battery. But the losses specifically from wireless charging are not as bad as they seem.
While I favour a 20W+ wired fast charge, a 15W wireless charge using a magnetic charger is very convenient in many cases. And with a decent power bank, you can always plug it in if needed.

Convenience. Many cases now have Magsafe, if you are out somewhere taking photos\videos, just attach magnetically, so you continue to use your phone normally or in your bag. No cables, no fuss.
not sure I understand what you are getting at. why should having a case affect popularity of wireless charging, my wife has a case and uses magsafe on her apple for wireless charging, my Samsung has a case and I use wireless charging for it too.
