lol another trash furniture company. "Harbour and Oak". No solid oak on the entire website

    • Did you check for Harbour?

The first item I look at is $84 delivered on eBay but $171 on this site

Just checked a bunch of other items and l cheaper elsewhere.

Their selection is, emmmm, very random.
Like just a redirection to the aliexpress furniture section.

What's going on today, reps must have thought Sunday was OzFreeAdvertising day.

Cheaper elsewhere as mentioned above by Sio20. No bargain here.

  • Sorry everyone for the disappointment. Just a new business owner trying to get started. However thank you for the feedback, I will take it on board and make some adjustments. Thank you.

It looks like ozbargain can be part of a marketing campaign, but it’s very focussed on actual bargains, to the degree that if your listing is popular here it’s almost certainly a bad sign: either you over-ordered and you’re dumping stock at below cost, or your loss leader strategy is about to go very badly.

Good luck with the new business though

I'm confused. Are most items generic branded? People don't generally want to fork out $100 for generic items such as "Luxurious Linen Cotton Sheet Set 1". Your website has the likes and prices of Webster and Temple, Adairs, and Peters of Kingston, but 99% of the items are unattractive, aliexpress/amazon level junk. I think OP, you need to decide whether you want to sell generic items at a cheap price or quality items at a competitive price. Who's your target audience? What is my incentive for buying from you over a reputable brand?

    • +4

The target audience is people who can’t tell this business is a sole trader, operating from their home, drop shipping with no inventory, and adding no perceivable value.

On a side note, dude literally registered the business name today

If he’s gone from idea to Shopify site, business name, domain name, and OzBargain post all on a wet, lazy Sunday then I’m impressed.

        • I did register the name today, as the payment gateway to pay was down on the ASIC website. We just launched yesterday but the business itself has been in research and planning for a while now, and website been built over the past 2 weeks.

I run multiple businesses with my main career as a web designer and developer which would be why the website didn’t take me long to make.

Totally understand the backlash, and I’m looking into ways to grow the business and offer cheaper pricing.

I do actually appreciate the feedback, all criticism should be taken on board, learnt from and improved.
So thanks everyone, it’s a learning curve and actually helpful that you guys found items cheaper elsewhere.

          • @Mega3000: The website didn’t take you long to make because it literally looks like a Shopify template that you just populated with your own details and photos…

      • It's like people still clinging to bitcoin, there were people who made a fortune off dropshipping early on but the ship has sailed.

    • But but but the free Amazon ebook on how to get rich with ecommerce didn't mention this?!

    Cheaper elsewhere as per above

    Temu $34.86, your site $96.95

  • Cheaper elsewhere as per above.

  • Cheaper elsewhere…
