Anyone Used Schmick Scratch and Dent Assist?

Buying a new car and dealers offering year membership offer for $999. Effectively $200 per year.

https://schmickclub.com/contact/

Its essentially $50 per repair but seems to be for minor scratches. Main attraction for us was includes 'Interior Sanitisation'. Now that is not interior cleaning. So, not clear what 'sanitisation' only involve.

Just curious what are your thoughts and if anyone signed up with Schmick?

  • I signed up for it when we bought but haven't had to use their services yet. This was 1.5y ago.

Is it worth the money? Probably not

  • Unless you park at a shopping centre everyday, can't drive for shit and smoke in your car then it's not worth it.

My wife signed up as part of her NVL a decade ago; at the end of the lease she got the rims fixed by them and it was perfect. She didnt pay $999

'Interior Sanitisation' might mean they clean out used lip balms out of the centre console.

  • I signed up when I first bought my car. Never used it. To me, it feels like extra payment I should not have paid and never should have taken that

  • Anyone Used Schmick

My dog loves the chicken ones.

I purchased 'Schmick' for $800 around 5 years ago. My car was a new Mazda 3 hatch. On two occasions I submitted pics of what I considered slight damage, but they were refused as too 'major'. One had a deep scratch which required possible door trim removal and filler, the other was a crack in the plastic front bumper. On the third occasion they did the repair which was two scratches around 20cm long. These only required sanding and light prep. before final painting.
I would not have Schmick again as they have too many 'outs' and refusals as the job is allegedly too big. Also there is a $50 charge for each job.
I now do minor jobs with touch up paint and small DIY filler kits and did not renew the Schmick offer.

    • Thanks a lot. Looks like not worth it. Also lots of people reported same experience in other threads.

Just curious what DIY filler kits you used? I tried some from aliexpress and didn't do the job. Couldn't find other alternatives

      • I purchased small DIY filler kits from the usual motor parts suppliers - Repco, Supercheap et al.. Around $20-$30 each and have instructions in the box. Also lots of videos on Toutube on how to repair.

        • Thanks

Search this topic on here youll find some info. There was a thread not that long ago.

    • Thanks. Found them. They were from 2017 and helpful.
Looks like dealers must get a huge commission from selling this.

Don’t do it. They have too many T&C to get out of it.

  • Yep don’t bother
