Best Process to Deal with Telstra about Poor Reception

Has anyone had success dealing with Telstra (Boost) about sudden poor city reception on recent iPhones? Telstra store? So far, phone contact has been unsuccessful.

One bar only (inside and outside) just a few kms from CBD. Used to be 3 or 4 bars. Tried another identical phone. Tried changing settings (such as 4g only, 5g only, auto; powered on and off; turned Voice over wifi on and off.

    Yes, Optus

Then I moved cities and went back to Telstra.

What do you want Telstra to do? If coverage in your area is not up to scratch, then switch to another telco.

    They don't care.

Buy a Blue Tick phone if you want good reception in fringe areas. The Galaxy S series have abetter antenna system in them.

Even the z series is better ((though not Blue Tick). I went away with a few friends last year to a poor reception area, and we were all on Optus. I was the only one that was getting reception, albeit intermittent. They had various iPhones, and had nothing.

Otherwise an iPhone 8 was on the Blue Tick list if you want to remain with IOS.

This. My wife’s recent iPhone is hopeless at getting reception compared to my Samsung (a blue tick phone). To the point that she will often hotspot off my phone to get connectivity.
Apple make very nice phones - but they are sh@t as actual phones….📞

  • Telstra (Boost)

Are you a Telstra or a Boost customer?

If you are a Boost Customer, then going to Telstra directly (like a Telstra store) is going to gain nothing because you are not a customer of them, you are a boost customer.

Complain directly to your provider, not the parent network service.

Also, has your phone had any updates recently?
    What City are you in?
Are you aware of any maintenance they have had in the area?
    What phone do you have?

  • Boost are one of the worst carriers I've been with and I refuse to ever go back with them for their shotty reception even if they are suppose to be Telstra network

The Telstra mobile coverage area footprint reaches more than 98.8% of the Australian population

So there is 1.199999999% of us.

  • Do you consistently get 5G? And is the poor qualify phone calls with all calls, or just certain people?
