Why do you say that?
any non-K CPU between 12-14 gen, have a locked System Agent Voltage, which is strongly related to the Memory Controller. you hardly able to achieve DDR4 3600 in Gear1 mode. DDR5 gets slightly better, but 7000+ is not possible.
also 13600(nonK) or below uses AlderLake architecture (what 12nd gen use)
13700nonK is proper raptor lake(real 13th architecture), but with the memory bottleneck, I'd rather buy 13600k…
13900nonK is just a 13700nonK + 8 ECore +6MB L3. L3 is good for games and other task needing random calculations, which is nice, but ECore means nothing to most people (you need to find calculation task that can properly split to pieces and not depends on other piece), I disable ECore altogether as it cause schedule issue sometimes.
long story short, your purchase decision should land to one of these:
12600k - 12700k (if much cheaper than 13600k) -
13600k - 13700k - 14700k -
(13900k or 14900k depends on price cuz they are the same)
and if you don't know how to tweak CPU with appropriate LLC and VCore setting, don't get anything above 13600k because degradation is real
FYI i5-14600K is $429, little faster and cooler, this i7-12700K really need a big cooler.
This 12700 is a bonus heater thru out winter, can't complaint for the price.
where is the 14600k $429? I think you mean 14900KF. the iGPU does make a difference.
