I get one every month or two… Rarely, I might get two in the same month.

I did with the last one.
I actually rarely fill out their surveys and only pay attention to the emails if they offer something like 10k points for 4x $50 shops. If filling out the survey unlocks freebies in the app then i may just do one lol
I noticed that we only get a freebie when we do a big shop at Coles.

Details in the fine print, so I suspect it probably won’t get honoured unless you get served by someone who really doesn’t care. I got this promotion too, but I suspect it won’t scan as free.

Yes, only mentioned Free in the email. When I activated it said I will get 300 points when I purchase the item.

I've never had any problems redeeming anything in the app (other than if the item has been out of stock at a particular store).
The terms are unclear as others have mentioned above - whether the item is really free + 300 points, or it is just 300 points. If it is the latter, then the deal as stated in the title is unobtainable.
They have a different offer for the same product.
