Ozito Pruner Chainsaw Chain Replacement

Hi, just wondered if anyone had changed the chain on one of these pruners?

Very little info and I want to buy a couple of generic chains, I think they are 8" but not sure.
If anyone else has bought a replacement and could let me know the size etc and where they got them, it would be appreciated.

    Have you contacted Bunnings?

Have you looked at the owners manual?

Owners manual says to ask on OzBargain.

The second last page in the manual gives the exact chain specifications, and also says that you can order chains at the Special Order Desk at Bunnings.

    • Thanks, I did see that info
      9.53 mm(3/8) 1.3 mm(.050”) 33 Links

Wasn't sure if 33 links meant a standard size or not, the ones online have 8" 10" etc.
The genuine chains are nearly half the price of the attachment, looking for some generic ones.
Never tried sharpening, if I can get chains cheap enough I could be bothered trying that.

Depends on the chain, and the type of wood you are cutting.

My FIL (77 year old farmer) cuts redgum and only uses carbide tipped chains. He's tried the cheap chains (he asked me to source him some) and they were crap. One broke, another lasted 45 minutes.

He has a chain saw sharpening rig that he uses to sharpen his good chains.(he has multiple stihl chainsaws and has been cutting wood all his life). Sharpening cheap chains gets pretty boring pretty quickly. You also need a decent sharpening rig.

Long story short - dont but the cheapest chain. And at least buy a carbide tipped chain.

you should be able to get them cheap on aliexpress, you need to know the size and number of links

you can sharpen the chain if it is getting dull

  • Oregon chains are good, I'd stick with the one you have. A tiny bar like that would take 10 mins to sharpen and will probably outlast the tool.

    • No idea how to sharpen, off to YouTube to learn
