  • If you price match, don't use the Student Beans code or you'll lose 15% of your phone value x10% Google Store credit.

      I cannot decipher this comment

Google price matches the phone after the purchase is made (called a courtesy refund to your credit card) so basically the price match negates any discount code you applied at the time of purchase.

        • basically the price match negates any discount code

Not really. You will get a refund if the lower price from the authorised retailer is lower than 15%. If not then you get nothing.

          • @snvl: That's true but in that case you would go with the advice above. Use either the price match or discount code. Not both at the same time.
If the 15% off is better than a price match, it's unnecessary to use a price match.
If the price match is better than the 15% off, don't use the 15% off.
If you use both price match and 15% off code, you're reducing your Google store credit

            • @JackedBargain: Nah, that’s not how it work. Google price match is a refund after paying.

Item is $500 and JBHiFi has it for $450. You call google and they say sure buy it and we will refund you $50 when it is shipped.

You apply the unydays code and pay $425. And call back and they will say sorry you paid $425 there is no refund.

              • @snvl: When I said "at the same time" I was meaning stacking price match with unidays code. So you wouldn't use both.

                • @JackedBargain: We are going in circles. One last try:

If an authorised retail have a 20% discount. You can use price match and uni days.

“ price match negates any discount code” is not true

                  • @snvl: You're missing the point which is:

Why would you use a unidays discount code when a price match of 20% off removes the need to use a unidays 15% off code.

Say for example, the phone is $1000.
If you use the unidays code it becomes $850.
Then you can ask for a price match for the 20% off to give you a further $50 off.
So yes, you are correct that this would work but if you do it this way, you only earn 10% Google store credit on $850 because that's what you initially paid Google for the phone.
If you just straight up do the 20% off price match from the start (and never use the unidays discount code), you initially pay Google $1000, so you earn 10% Google Store credit on that. Then you get the $200 refund from Google.

Both ways give you $200 off the $1000 phone but you earn less Google Store credit if you use the unidays discount code followed by the price match.

So in other words… You are better off to do just the price match as it negates the need to use the unidays discount code.

  • Store credit is only 10%.

It’s such a poor phone with clean android experience.

      Indeed

    • Yes.

But why are you whinging about my comment?

People love it, people buy it. I’ve my opinions and so do you.

The way Google does PM means this does not stack.
Google store PM applies after checkout by refund of the difference between what you pay and what you want to match. So you cannot stack codes and price match.

  • It's not an amazing phone, hardware other than camera is lacking. But let's face it, for a maximum of $465, there probably aren't a lot of better (in context of value) options. Yes, I own one.

I would say recently released Samsung A55 can be a better option. I bought it for ~$530 from Samsung Education store with Free Galaxy Buds FE, which I sold on FB for $90 so phone effectively costed me $440.

sorry how can I get $465?

It showed $636.65 for me with the code

    Subtotal
    A$749.00
    Total savings
    -A$112.35
    Delivery
    A$0.00
    Total
    A$636.65

    • Yeah, I'm also confused about how to get it.

Maybe it required a discount on the store which has sinced ended? If you figure it out PM me and I'll do the same.

    • Price match OW at Google Store to get $465
($547 x 0.85 = $464.95). Too late now anyway since Google stopped selling 7a on their store

OP forgot to mention that price matching at Google will void any further discounts as the price matching is the final price that you will be paying

Also invalid neg from you too, if doubt just ask in the comments
