Grab Spiderman 2 for a bargain price. Saw this posted elsewhere, bought a code myself and redeemed on my Japanese PSN account and it is working fine.
€6.33 ($10.68 AUD + Card Fees) Worked out to $12 or so total for me with the fees.
NOTE: Need a Japanese PSN account to redeem the code!

you need to set the account as the main account on your PS5, any downloaded games will be playable with other accounts in the console (same as PS4)

that is correct. when you enable "Console Sharing and Offline Play", it will make your account as a main/primary account in that PS5.
other primary and non-primary accounts in the same console can play the downloaded games from a primary account.
one account can only be set as primary in one PS5 console but one console can have multiple primary accounts.
I have different accounts from UK, US, JP, and AS. only use my AU PSN to play the digital games from those accounts.

Yeah as long as you keep the Japanese account on your system, your main account can play any games from the Japanese account.
Just keep in mind any DLC will be locked to the region of purchase should there be any DLC.

Try deleting your cookies / incognito mode.
Not sure if the domain matters much but I used gmail and someone else in this thread has reported success with gmail as well.
a bit different with PS4 that you need to set primary or secondary, all account in PS5 has the same level of access. You can have an JPN account, install the game, and then play it with your AU account.
Please note: install and update need to be done in the account that has the game, also if you need to buy the DLC later.

Never had that with PS4. You are incorrect from my experience of multiple games from multiple regions on my PS4.
That mean you only had 1 PS4 and all your accounts is primary.
If you have 2 or more, when you play the game from secondary account, you need to connect to internet and input password. You can have 8 primary accounts in a single PS4, but one account can only be primary in a single machine.
In PS5, you didn't need to connect to internet as long as the game already installed and the account that has the game is still logged in.

Buy the code, create a PSN account (you need a new email and be able to navigate during the registration as it will be all in Japanese), log in to your new Japanese account, redeem the code you just bought and download the game!

Buy the game in a web browser on your phone or PC, no VPN needed.
Log into your JP account on your PS5 and redeem.
If you can’t read Japanese, use your phone camera to translate the characters.
I did everything on the web browser on the PC. I confirm no VPN was needed.
Once you have redeemed the game on your Japanese account on the PC, login with that account on your PS5, look for the game on the Japanese store and you can download it from there.
It should only show Download without a price as it was redeemed with the code you got before.
Once downloaded and installed, switch to your normal PSN account on the PS5 and you should be good to go.

No. I’ve had a Japanese account on my PS3 , PS4 and PS5 that’s about 15 years with a Japanese account in my PlayStations and buying games from that account and playing them on my Aussie account never had a problem
Yes I bought a PS3 back in march 2007 for $1000 and I still have the Eb games receipt to proof it if anyone was wondering.
I have been buying games on my Aus PSN and play them on my US acc for 10yrs+ for trophy. There is no problem whatsoever.

I got stuck at first so here's the process and hopefully it helps someone:
on a web browser (preferably a computer), open incognito, go to PSN site, click create new user, set country as Japan, use google translate (note when using chrome, the google page translate feature stopped me from progressing so I used google lens on my phone and left it in japanese), follow all account creation steps (use a different email to your existing account), just put a random Tokyo post code (i googled one). Once account is setup, add that account to your ps5.
Buy the code from OP's link (scroll to bottom to get cheapest price) and then input the code in your japan psn account on your ps5 psn store (it will be in japanese so google lens is handy again).

I just made my account through my PS5 and it worked like a charm! Just go to add user and follow the steps as usual to create a new account besides setting the country as Japan and using a Japanese State/Postcode (Tokyo, 1000000)

If you have a card that doesn’t charge foreign currency conversion fees, it’s slightly cheaper if you change the currency to Euro. Paid €7.14, got charged $11.80 with Macquarie Debit Card.

From prior research, the JPN version of FFVII Rebirth has an option to toggle to English UI & texts/ voice as well

The process of creating an account is pretty straightforward these days, unlike in the past.
Feels overwhelming at first but it’s barely even 5-6 minutes from start to creation. Jump on to it.
The game is similar in price to that of a Big Mac meal.
Can’t go wrong with that at that price!

True from time perspective. For my experience, I've realised the games I put this kind of effort I tend to spend the time playing till the end and not end up in a digital pile of shame that never gets picked up. ymmv ofcourse :)
By spending more effort acquiring the game or getting the game right away, there is more motivation to play the game and get the entertainment value out of it quickly.
Using the same argument, since more effort is needed to create a Japanese PSN account (due to the need to navigate pages in Japanese), people will have more incentive to play the game. Also, Spiderman 2 is the most recent first party exclusive title. $12 for a PS5 first party exclusive does feel like a good deal.
