I participated in the Myer cashback offer with bonus cashback from Westpac last November. Both the base and bonus cashback tracked initially. However, after a long wait, only the base cashback was approved, while the $30 bonus was rejected. I lodged a dispute, but ShopBack kept telling me they hadn’t heard anything from Westpac in 1.5 months and asked me to continue waiting.
Feeling frustrated, I asked them yesterday, “Do I have to wait forever? Can you take action instead of asking me to wait repeatedly?” A few hours later, I received an update stating that the rejection was due to their system flagging certain usage similarities detected on the device linked to my ShopBack account. When I asked for clarification on these “certain usage similarities,” they did not provide any details.
I’ve been a ShopBack customer for many years since its introduction here in 2018, with hundreds of transactions. I’ve seen many complaints about ShopBack on OzBargain, especially regarding large cashbacks. While I’ve had problems with them before, they were mostly resolved successfully. I am extremely disappointed that ShopBack blamed me for doing something wrong when I did not. Be cautious when dealing with them!
Can you advise me on which government authority would be most appropriate for addressing this issue? Thank you.
