    No to HP

That’s how they rope masses into adoption of such anti-consumer products and services.

        6 months free ink

Soooo….. its just one lot of ink? Similar to Dish Washers, "Free 12 month supply" and it is 1 bag of 60 tablets.

      • +1

Not sure where you got $3.99 for your thousands of pages, that only gets you 50 pages.

        • -1

It's 6 months free printing @ 1500 pages max per month. 9000 free prints for $116 is basically unbeatable.

Then you drop to a $3.99 plan or chuck the thing out and buy another.

    Very Small Footprint

You know what they say about people with small feet…………..

Quote from OP of the previous, poorly received, deal

    !!! IMPORTANT UPDATE !!!!

!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER !!!!!

After we realised how bad HP is (with help from the OzB community via the comments below) we decided to get a refund from officeworks and get a Brother Printer instead. for more information, please read the comments below.

Already linked to in the first line of the deal description.

I couldn't give two-hoots about HP and its ethics. It doesn't factor into what I see is a good deal. And if business practices was a legit consideration in 99% of OzB posts, it'd also be neg city.

I love the deal because it has a very exploitable free 6 months of printing. Even your local copier place is going to struggle on the price per page value here. So HP and Officeworks are both coping negative value here.

  • Its good to know this is a long running printer. Im fed up of the ones that are not.

  • +1

HP printers are the worst. I recommend using Brother printers instead.

if you're looking to print a few thousand pages, this is the deal for you

    https://www.hp.com/au-en/shop/hp-instant-ink

    • Yes, after the 6 month trial…

      • In the interest of full disclosure.
Edit: 700 pages a month refers to colour printing. Mono printing cap is 1,500 pages a month

        https://www.hp.com/au-en/printers/hp-plus.html

Up to 6 months of Instant Ink included: up to 700 1,500 pages a month
Subscribe to Instant Ink so you never run out and save up to 50% on ink and toner. With HP+, you can print up to 700/1,500 pages a month for up to 6 months at no cost. After trial period ended, monthly fee applies unless cancelled.

        https://www.hp.com/au-en/printers/instant-ink.html#section=p…

Up to 700 1,500 pages per month
Extra sets of 10-50 pages only cost $1.99.

        • Interesting. I've got 1500 listed on mine. So we'll see!

          • +1

@captain smash: I apologise for the mistake. The monthly cap is 1,500 pages for mono printers. The comment has been edited for the correct information.

Who thinks to repost a deal with more negative than positive votes.

I'm against HP and their dodgy tactics

    • A sheeple that only has eyes for instant gratification and cheap prices, that's who.

  • HP insta-scam

    The negs!

Look, if it makes the deal any more palatable for you hardcore socialists, Officeworks complained with Price Beat it was below their cost. So think of this deal as Robin Hood'ing one corporate for another.

    • +3

Socialism is when bad practices get called out and you don't just eat their boots as they want you to do

    • -1

Why are you defending this deal so much? A lot of people don't think this is a deal. It's a site for posting bargains. 1 or 2 negs, sure… And it can be excused. But so many saying the same thing, ummmm it may not be a good deal.
For private use, horrible deal. Business application, it might be ok short-term.

      • -1

1,500 pages a month for free for six months.
9000 pages for $116.30. A high yield cartridge on most printers i.e Brother will do about 10,000 - 12,000 pages.

        Comparable costs:
        Brother @ 2.9129 cents per page B&W - $262
$1800 if you went to OfficeWorks and used their printing at .20 cents a page

Or if you're really committed use the ISO standards, https://www.officeworks.com.au/information/cost-per-page

        • -1

Dude I don't really care for 1500 pages a month ATM but on face value it seems a good deal to me, regardless that I don't like HP. Even sweeter if they lose money on it.

But a stupid swipe at socialists, demonstrates you know nothing about them. Therefore neg.

  • Say no to HP

  • +2

Note - You also get 6 months free printing with HP+ Instant Ink with the redeemable card in the Officeworks printer

Do you know if it's unlimited, or is it a (*) free 50 pages per month at their lowest subscription rate? Because that changes things greatly and I doubt HP would unknowingly allow free unlimited printing.

    • Yes * from the terms & conditions "After 6 months, monthly fee applies unless cancelled. With HP+, you can print up to 1,500 pages a month for free for six months"

  • HP needs to stop being greedy.

  • 6 months free printing with HP+ Instant Ink with the redeemable card in the Officeworks printer.

    only for 50 pages?

  • A big no no to HP printers! Their unethical business model should never be supported specially with cheap dodgy tactics like this.

Go with a Brother printer for longevity and affordable printing.

  • I have an HP printer and it will be my last. They sent out a firmware update blocking use of third-party cartridges. Had to jump through hoops to flash the old firmware, thank god.

  • Downvoting for poor quality product.

  • +1

I hate HPs scammy policies too.

But I'm amazed OzB is hiding this deal in the deals timeline. I knew I saw it earlier, but couldn't find it until I searched.

  • HP = High Profit
