I own both models but use the A more, which writes at >100MB/s consistently, and is tiny. I paid $60 four years ago and it's going strong with daily use. The only other USB drives faster are the Patriot Rage ones which write at 300MB/s.

I can't remember how fast the C is.

Great prices for both models.

    100mb/s consistently

    press x to doubt

used a usbc the other day to move 5mb files, 10gb took like 15mins

    never again

    • 100mbps is 12.5MBps

      10'000 / 12.5 = 800

      800 / 60 = 13.3 minutes.

Seems to check out; why the doubt?

I own both models but use the A more, which writes at >100MB/s consistently

      • now try a large number of files and watch it slow down 10x

try look up meaning of consistent

you can write sequential and I would believe you

That was 2x 6.5-7GB files. I'm not gonna delete stuff, and copy shit back over to prove something to a rando over a $36 usb drive

Yeah those Patriot Rage Primes have impressive read/write speeds. $59 for 250GB currently but I got enclosures when it was raining M.2s last year.

The other ones that on my list are the 5-pack 64GB Rage Lites. Had a look and they're $34.45 https://www.amazon.com.au/Patriot-Supersonic-Rage-Flash-Drive/dp/B0BS79QG6D, the 5-pack 32GB is $28.55 and the 5-pack 128GB is $52.95.

    • I only have the Rage 2 and Rage Prime. Have you tried the Lites?

    • what read/write speeds do they have? can't see anything listed in product reviews

    • I'm confused and need help…
I want a flash drive as a back up fast storage for my files (at least 256GB, but prefer 512GB or 1 TB) and I'm not sure which one is fast, solid build and long living.
I was looking at the Samsung https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07D7Q41PM?th=1
but I can also find this Patriot https://www.amazon.com.au/Patriot-Supersonic-Prime-Flash-Dri…

can any one help me choose and tell me what is a good price for it?

I have both. I have used the Samsung almost daily since I got it 4 years ago and still going strong. Write speed is 100MB/s

The Patriot is bigger in physical size, but writes at 300MB/s, and I only use it occasionally. The price is also currently quite high. I got mine for about $60 2 years ago

Both are 250-256GB, 512 and above are a lot more expensive for good write speeds from what I've seen

  • Is it possible to use these as OTG to backup Android phones?

    • I plugged the USB-C into my phone, and the phone can read the files. I have nfi about backups because all my shit is in the cloud.

    • Yes, if you have software - Samsung can use smart switch

    • Yep. I do it.

I recommend Total Commander for a good file manager.

  • Will they ever bring back the duo plus. I have the 256GB but want another one. I have the 256GB of the fit plus and put E2B/Ventoy in it, so good.

  • I've got the USB -A version which is great as a permanent extra disk for my Surface Pro. It is small enough that it doesn't protrude much so I dont ever need to remove it.

I am annoyed that the USB C version is so much longer than the A. When work forces me to upgrade to a newer Surface pro that doesn't have USB A, I'm hoping they have shrunk them a bit… or I'm not going to be happy… (An no … I cant upgrade the SSD in the Surface Pro as it is a work device and they are too cheap to offer us a larger drive version.)

    • Just stick a micro SD into surface pro slot?

  • Protruding sides mean you can't use this in crowded-in usb ports. So, non-starter.
