You cannot use gift card to buy Prepaid Sim I believe

    • Yes, did not work for me during the last promo.

      • +2

Everyday Pay is gift card in disguise. I bought mine last month.

        • Interesting find. So you add the gift card to Everyday Pay and just pay the entire amount by scanning the QR code? Wonder if this works for using gift cards to pay for gift card 😁

          • +1

@ganjadeals: I have used by adding to the app as well (bought Vodafone sims using the method)

          • +3

@ganjadeals: Yes you'll also need to add a credit/debit card to it but as long as the total gift card balance is more than the purchase amount it'll charge from the GCs first. You can add multiple GCs and it's going to be charged automatically on FIFO basis, save you from manually splitting the amount and enter PIN for each card.

You can't use gift cards to buy Woolworths Mobile (Everyday) SIMs

You can use gift cards and woolworths dollars to buy other SIMs.

You don't have to load the gift cards into everyday pay, you can just scan the barcodes at the self-checkout then enter the PIN on the card reader. You still need the human to approve the SIM activation, but that happens first, before you get to the payment screen.

Bought 3 vodafone 240GB last month with 10% off from everyday extra, then paid with everyday dollars and the rest with gift card

      • +1

Last year I did a Woolworths in-store shop which included an Amaysim pack. At the self-checkout I was able to use the monthly 10% off, but it would not let me pay with Woolworths gift cards. I will try again using this Everyday Pay trick.

        • +1

I can report that the Everyday Pay trick did NOT work for me. In the Everyday Rewards app I set up the Wallet with a credit card and some Woolworths gift cards. In the store I first did a test purchase of one small grocery item to verify that Everyday Pay was working. Then I did the main purchase consisting of groceries, an Amaysim $165 Starter kit, and a Belong $45 Starter kit (currently $22). I went to pay, waited for the staff member to validate the Starter kits, I accepted the 10% discount, and then the Everyday Pay app displayed an error. I don't recall the exact wording but it was something like "Invalid item for this payment type".

The staff member told me the usual story about Starter kits being like gift cards so they couldn't be purchased with gift cards. Fortunately he generously rearranged my items into two separate purchases, one for the groceries and one for the Starter kits, with both getting the 10% discount and the only groceries being paid with gift cards.

I wonder why it works for some people but not me.

      • Just back from Woolies, tried to use e-gift card for the sim plan. This action will freeze their softwear. I guess the onyl method is used the everyday pay from the above threads?

  • OP, which gift card is available for 10% off?

    • +1

Think OP means 10% off a shop via everyday mobile or insurance. Not sure 10% off applies to mobile plans

      • I have everyday extra for 10% off one shop a month
Want to buy 2 sims in 1 transaction so I get 10% off both. Would I get the 4000 bonus points for each sim or just once per transaction?

        • I dunno

        • Should be activated before 23/4/2024 for some packs or before 16/04/2024 to get bonus points.

          • +1

@pman54: Says purchased before 16/4 not activated

        • I’m gonna guess one lot of 4000 points

        • Fine print says "Limit 3 per customer" so I believe you get 4000 bonus points for each SIM purchased, plus double base points for being an everyday extra member. Monthly 10% discounts upto $500 so if you buy 3 of the $189 you only get $50 off if you're gonna buy 3. Also check if you have those "spend x get y points" offer and boost accordingly.

  • Op which 28 countries included?

  • +2

Does it need to be activated in any timeframe?

I have 80 days remaining on my existing sim which was 1/2 price last year. Wonder if it's worth waiting on jump on now

    • Wondering this also!

      • Very hard to tell. The only other great deals I have seen lately are the Vodafone 1 year from Woolies and Kogan half price. I haven’t seen as many good deals as last year, but maybe that will change.

    • The expiration is on the package - I think it's 6 months from purchased date.

  • +1

Wow pretty good deal. I bought the last month's 1000 EDR. Bought 3 Sims as well. Ah well still happy with the haul!

    • +1

I think you weren’t much worse off as it was $165 I believe, so only $6 worse in points.

  • OP the 140GB sim RRP is $165 but is showing as $145 + 4000 points in the catalogue, May need to change the title

  • 5g?

    • +1

      Sadly only 4g

  • I am with Coles uses Optus too, guess I still need to port out to Voda or Telstra and then port in again since both are same carrier, right?

    • +1

no you can port straight over.

  • Melbourne metro, moved from Boost to Amaysim, disconnection, no available 4G happens way more often, weak signal, but amaysim roaming packs works better for me, so well, untill I use up all the data, we will see.

  • Optus network?

  • Where do I get the gift card 4% off purchase? In store?

    • I use NRMA.

  • Guess this deal is for new customers only? :(

Coles mobile 1 year plan 210gb, $189 but no bonus points. https://colesmobile.com.au/home/left-image/product/84

    • Yes, port out and back in. Easy to do! Coles looks good but dearer and no esim. Also less international countries.

If esim or international isn’t important to you catchconnect are doing 200gb for $150. Topcashback gives 5% cashback so paying about $143.25 after cashback (hence cheaper than the 210gb at Woolies, but potentially same cost if you have a 10% off and discounted gift cards).

      • Do you have any recommendations for who to port out to?
Someone with a cheap sim, without having to buy/top up for $10?
        TIA

  • Amaysim’s online system and app functionality is fantastic. I use both Amaysim and Woolies mobile

    • I agree, esim it’s also great. The only thing I don’t like it’s the internet as it doesn’t seem to be that fast even though I’m in Sydney CBD. I will personally go to Vodafone in June when my Amaysim expires (bought starter packs from Woolies last month and on standby for me and husband).

      • Don’t forget your 10% off Woolies shop per month!

  • -1

    Expirary date?

  • Im trying to decide on which sim to buy, whether this amaysim 140gb plan for ~$125 or the catch connect 120GB for $119.
    https://catchconnect.com.au/home/left-image/product/30

Both uses the Optus network. I don't mind the difference in data we get (as Im not going to fully use that anyways). Can someone help me to take a decision.

    • Customer service is better with Amaysim (very quick via app). Also if you convert your points to Qantas they are worth more (about 1.3 hence you are getting around $26 worth). You also don’t need to wait for catch having to send sim.

      • Thanks mate. Do you know whether we can expect the same signal quality from the 2 providers as they use the same network or are there any other factors to consider. Specially im keen on getting good signal inside shopping malls as my current telstra sim is horrible at it.

        • They are basically the same as Optus. I would possibly just try to get a one month before committing. I’m not finding Amaysim brilliant at the moment and I’m in Sydney cbd.

    • Amaysim plan incl International calls as well to many countries.

      • Thanks borg. Looks like so.

  • i already on amaysim unlimited 25GB plan, can i buy this one and transfer over?

    • I believe you need to port out and then back in

      • so i cannot simply select keep the number and activate the new sims, that suck
        thankx

      • I am already using Amaysim.
Do you know if I can port to ALDI mobile $5 starter pack, then port back into Amaysim?
How do I consider myself as “new customer”? Like how many months in between before going back to Amaysim?

        • It’s straight away. Some people here reported being able to do via chat online (so not requiring to move out).

          • @fozzie: Thanks, do you mean that I can buy this amaysim sim from this promo and then do the transfer straightaway? : D

            • @wwykath: Yes, I would even chat to them before buying. Just say that you want to activate the plan on offer at Woolies and see what they tell you. Best of luck

              • @fozzie: Oh thanks !!! I will try!!!

              • @fozzie: I tried and they rejected me in the chat 🥲.

                • +1

@wwykath: Uhm, just buy the boost deal via ShopBack. Port out and then back into this. The boost is one month and currently you make a profit of $2 plus free month.

    • If you get lucky to find the right customer rep, they might do it for you. Was able to extend two of the connections at home last year.

      • Did you manage to buy the card first, then talk to the customer rep?

  • +1

I have been unable to apply the extra 10% discount to amaysim purchase like this in the past. Apparently the discount does not apply to these annual voucher purchases.

    • I did to Vodafone last month

  • Amaysim was completely unusable in ADL metro. Slow as snails so that navigation with Google maps would fail all the time. Had to swap to something under Telstra, but still not sure if it's an Amaysim or Optus issue

    Caveat emptor

  • Really happy with Amaysim. Did a year with them, ported away to get the next 'new customer' deal last Black Friday, then ported back on a 12-month deal. Happy with the coverage, good service and a usable app. My wife's deal is about to end and will have no hesitation on picking this up and switching her from Coles Mobile at the end of next month

  • Does Optus run any deals on 1-year plans?

  • +1

I've been mostly happy with Amaysim. Last time I ported out (Moose) I got an incentive to return to Amaysim with deal $15 per month with 18GB. I don't think I can ever beat this deal. :)

    • I think that is very cheap. If you can't be bothered to change all the time you are better off sticking with them. I usually always get deals for about the equivalent of $9-10 a month and I have fun moving/hunting for deals

  • Hi guys, hoping I wait until next month to get my 10 percent off, anyone know when this deal expires?

    • Usually is 1 week.

    • on the same boat, crossing fingers!

  • I would prefer Vodafone 5G $250 prepaid (140GB + 90GB Bonus) for $125 if you don't need unlimited international calls/SMS.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/829831

Half price vodafone deal comes once every month if you can wait. Otherwise amaysim is also a good deal.

  • +1

Is this better than the Woolies own $170 long-term mobile plan, considering you get 10% off shop each month and you'll be on Telstra network?

    • If you don't need international call.

  • +1

anyone tried applying the monthly 10% off on this?

    • Would also like to know, and if someone purchases 2 sims in 1 transaction do they receive 2x 4000 points

      • I want to know too!

      • Nope. You will have to do it in 2 individual transactions

      • +1

Can confirm, yes, I got 2 SIM cards today and picked up 8k points.
Actually, I picked up more than that, there were extra points as part of the 10 times points promotion that started on the 25th (for spending more than $150 in one shop). Plus the usual Rewards points. When the total points came up on the display the checkout lady said it was the highest she had seen…

        • +3

Can confirm I did as follows:

          Activated 10x Points in App
          Added Gift Cards to App

          • Scanned Everyday Pay QR in store
          • Scanned 2x $165 sims down to $145 each + $50 random groceries (not required)
          • Redeemed Everyday Extra 10% off
          • Redeemed $40 EDR dollars that I had existing
          • Remainder was paid with my gift card automatically

And ended up with 11,552 points (pushing me to additional $60 rewards $)

          • @Brick50: My total was less than the gift card balance in everyday pay, an error message popped up at self checkout.
I was asked to pay by a different payment method.
I was able to redeem 10% and reward dollars.

            • @deliriouss: Hmm I also had a larger GC balance than my transaction total with no issues in VIC

    • +2

      Fantastic deal!! I've availed the 10% off and 170 base + 7020 bonus points (4000 offer + 2000 - Easter offer + 340 Everyday Extra + 340 Campaign + 340 3x points)

Add the gift card discount ~4% on top of this.

  • +1

Made an acc to say tysm for this!! Just bought one :)

    • Enjoy

  • I bought 2 along with few groceries (worth $50) using Woolworths Wish gift card during last month promo. I used the in-person checkout. The person said gift cards wont work to buy sim card. I simply asked to try and eventually it accepted. I was expecting 4000 rewards, but received only 2000 as I bought the sim in single transaction.

    • -1

Can you please clarify your last comment?

  • +2

I was able buy sim cards using Woolworths Wish Gift Card

    • Did you add to the rewards app?

      • +2

I used them by adding to rewards app, and paying via everyday pay at the terminal. Can confirm I got both bonus points for 2 sims in 1 transaction, also used my 10% off monthly shop

        • Someone else reported not getting points twice. I wonder if it’s due to having bought same plan? You got different plans

    • I used the egift card. Then their system got frozen :(

  • 100Mbps speed cap sucks really

  • +2

Just bought both 210gb & 140gb, paid $300.60 with 10% off everyday extra (free trial), instantly collect $50 rewards dollars (8300 points).

Just in time for next month when our Coles mobile expires.

    Thanks, OP.

  • +3

After chatting to Amaysim I was advised:

“ but as far as we know you can keep the pack not active for 2 months and 28 days.””

So nearly 3 months to activate the pack.

    • +1

      Thanks. That’s good to know

    • Thank you so much

    • Do you mean both 210GB and 140GB plans ?

Edit: i just chatted in amaysim, even today is public holiday, instantly there was somebody to answer! 👍🏻 he said have 90 days to activate any plans purchased at retail partners. However if activate after 90 days, the value will be forfeited and become a $2 starter pack 🫠
