I just wait till my neighbours chuck one out, then just replace the hose, clean the burners, replace the grill or whatever else they've deemed "unfixable" when they tossed it out. Supplied my extended family with at least three Weber Family's this way… I've done the same with Dyson's too (I've seen these thrown out when the only issue was some hair in the rollers)

    • lol

    • That's next level

      • Ozbargain is for chumps

(just kidding, I love you guys)

    • Geez…wish my neighbours would toss them out. I've never seen a decent gas Weber thrown out…just crappy BBQ's.

I'm fortunate enough to live in an area that has slowly become waaaay more affluent than I am - it's full of people with more money than sense, heaps of renters, and there's no junk week (you just book in a pickup whenever you want to throw something out) so there's alway street bounty lying around. So the daily dog walks just become a bit of a street shopping experience…

    • My neighbours threw one out and I didn't even have to replace anything. Just checked that it still worked and gave it a clean. Flipped it on Marketplace for a tidy profit.

      • They can be a tidy little earner, right?

Legit question: how do you go about cleaning the burners? The burner on my babyq is completely clogged up in areas, but no amount of wirebrushing seems to clear the clogs..

Paperclip or SIM card tray pin does the job. You just have to go one hole at a time.

Also I'm pretty sure you can buy spare parts from Weber if they have proper deteriorated. I remember years ago paying $30 bucks or something like that to get a new burner.

But if it's new and just clogged just go through cleaning the holes as dontpanic says.

      • I have the same problem! I've even done the paper clip in the holes trick and still the gas flow is inconsistent enough that it goes out half the time and I come out to a back yard smelling of gas.

    • Dont you feel shy to go and pick them up?

        No. Why should I?

As far as I'm concerned, the people that should feel shame are the people that send perfectly functional devices to landfill because they can't be bothered maintaining them properly.

Agree they throw it away instead of putting it on FB for free pickup.

  • Is there a difference between Q3100AU and Q3100N?

I'm guessing one is for natural gas plumbing and the other accepts a fuel tank?

    • The Q3100N is the newer model (late 2023 iirc)
