Skins A400 Compression Short Sleeve Top - $59.95 (RRP $119.95) - Jim Kidd, Perth, WA

120

Hi folks,

Have had my eyes on compression clothing for quite a while now, but cannot seem to justify the $100+ price tag that Skins have. Was about to buy some cheaper alternatives when I noticed the sale @ Jim Kidd (Murray St, Perth CBD). I believe the sale is 50% off all Skins clothing, so I snagged two A400 tops (short sleeved tops) for $59.95 each. Brilliant bargain IMO (especially since the Skins website still shows the RRP). Comes in retail packaging and seems to be their "flagship" series.

The model that I got was:

My apologies, but I have no idea as to when the sale will end. Also, if you're not in WA, I'd recommend giving your local store a call and finding out if they are also having a similar sale.

Please let me know if you guys have any questions. Again, first poster here, so may have missed some information.

EDIT: Invoice found! http://upload.ozbargain.com/2012/11/03/9730_invoice.jpg

A lot of people claim that compression aids recovery. It's like wearing compression anklets while playing soccer or wrapping your hands before boxing. Reduces chances of injury and stuff like that. Critics claim it's all placebo effect and that it doesn't make significant difference.

To be honest, even if that is the case, it feels really good and is really good at eliminating sweat and keeping the body cool. It's not a must-have though and there are heaps of cheaper alternatives. :)

Yeah I got the Skins shorts I use for running and fishing. Keeps you some what warm, feels light and its quick drying and UPF50+ in non mesh zones (crotch)! Mine are a bit too tight so I suggest you try if you aren't sure about their sizing guide. I'm waiting for the website sale (or other if I can find) for long pants :)

      • As these were my first Skins, I was a bit worried about the sizing. The girl at the counter let me try one out to check for size. AFAIK, the long pants were also on sale @Jim Kidd.

I'm a bit wary about getting pants as I've got really short legs. :P

      Thanks a lot Bindi. :)

looks like a good price I paid $65 4-5 years ago for my long sleeve.

I have used both under armour and skins, under armour is better value for money. Comes in hot and cold and is cheaper when you buy from the US.

    • Ahhh very true. That was Plan B for me. ;)

Just an FYI for the folks who are not aware. To buy underarmour from the US you need to do the following:

      1) Ensure that you DO NOT select shipping to Australia when prompted.
      2) Get a freight-forwarder like Shipitto. They only charge ~$8.5 per shipment.
      3) It is only cost effective if you buy several things (i.e. in bulk).

Note that "Australian markup" is approx $20-$30 per item. As a result, when you get multiple items the saving is substantial (even if you factor in shipping to freight-forwarders as well as the shipping charges to Aus).

  • So out of all the brand :SKIN,2xu,underarmor and body science which one would you guys recommend for boxing and weight lifting?

  • Just thought Id add my 2cents. I have worked in sporting retail and also for a elite football team, you will find skins and body science have actually got TGA approval so they had to show some scientific evidence to make there claims, like a medication (in fact when skins first came out if you had private health insurance you could actually claim for them) The other brands Nike, Adidas and to my knowledge even 2xu make the claim but no proof. I am unsure about Under-armour but they seem more like a tight wicking moisture garment rather than the compression wear from skins etc. Hope that helps

  • Price went up already. Rabel sport did a price check for me

    • I wasn't aware that Rebel sports did a price match. Cool!

      • they beat it by 10%. It would be helpful if you could post the invoice. T_T

        • Found it mate! :) Uploaded.
