  • Any comments on how quick those 600 redemptions normally go?

      • Thanks. That one took 5 hours for 1000 redemptions. So say 3 hours

        • @OZBMate8911 Not as popular this round. I just bought and still 340 rewards left

“Up to 15% bonus at Amazon” advertised, not listed in Westpac Lounge

      • It’s in there already. Only 8% bonus cashback for Westpac customers

15% is for Best and Less

      • Sorry, forgot to come back and say it’s since been updated aha

Over 9 hours late, but I got my order in so all good

    • Up to 15% bonus at Amazon

Where does it say it was for Amazon specific?

I read the banner for Westpac Wednesday as up to 15% Westpac bonus cashback and a list of retailers were shown. Nothing pointed to that it was up to 15% bonus at Amazon

      • They displayed 4 stores in the preview banner yesterday and the ad banner today - Amazon was one of them

I wasn’t expecting 15% from Amazon, but the ad states “up to 15% on these stores” which included Amazon - just my tired wording making it read like it was up to 15% at Amazon specifically

    $5 + 2.5% = 9.17% cashback total.

    • $5 bonus tracked in 20 mins + $1.88 original cashback. Not 2.5%for me

      • Isn't $1.88 is 2.5% of $75

That’s like 81 large slurpees for the price of 75!!!!!

  • can i top up opal with that card in NSW?

  • side question: how do you use the gift card? it shows as a 7-Eleven Activ Visa Gift card. Can it be used elsewhere online?

    • +1

Only for merchants with the MCC listed as fuel. It’s a digital gift card so add it to your wallet with the CC details provided on ShopBack

    • I use it for fuel.

    • Only in petrol stations and “miscellaneous food stores” as listed above (can confirm it works at Coles Express from personal experience)

Add it to your mobile wallet and pay like any credit/debit card

    • Anyone having problem with the CVV after adding to google wallet? All 3 cards i bought having the same issue and wallet keeps asking for CVV but error message asking me to try again keep showing up.

      • +1

@Feiniao I've just added manually as a payment card (new credit or debit card) without any issues.
You may have to remove the 7-Eleven gift cards and add again and/or uninstall and reinstall google wallet.
Last week after I updated all my apps, I wasn't able to use any of these 7-Eleven cards at Coles Express or Ampol. They were all declined. I think the latest google wallet update stuffed up these gift cards. There was some error message, perhaps similar to what you saw.
To fix, I removed the 7-Eleven cards and also uninstalled and reinstalled wallet, then added the 7-Eleven cards back and was able to use yesterday

Noted! The only thing i haven't tried was uninstall wallet since everything else working fine with it. Thank you @trixieb

      I got a $50 from the previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832356)

Afterwards, added it to my iPhone wallet as a debit card.

Although it looked like a Visa card, it cannot be used at Woolies/Coles to pay for your groceries.

Since I hadn't been fuelling up at 7-Eleven recently, I had instead used the $50 to purchase a $50 TCN Gift card (https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/the-gift-card) at a 7-Eleven.

@viewfinder You can convert to Coles gift cards at Coles Express. I bought a Coles Myer group gift card using this 7-Eleven gift card at Coles Express

Thanks for the tip! I'm having trouble using these gift cards at 7 Eleven because the staff at my local don't know how to split payments.

          • @ilovemangoes: Coles Express staff seem more competent with splitting payments.
With 7-Eleven, at the same store, some staff knew but some didn't

          Thanks for sharing.

I'll keep that in mind for next time.

  • How long does it take for the Westpac bonus cashback to confirm?

    • +1

      @OZBMate8911 About 20 mins

  • +2

$5 bonus tracked in 20 mins + $1.88 original cashback

Just purchased. 208 redemptions left. Hasn't tracked yet though.

  • How I can check the remaining balance ?
    Thanks

Considering the gift card in this deal is a specially-branded Activ Visa gift card, go to the balance check website listed on the Activ Visa gift card website:

      https://www.cardbalance.com.au/

  • So I've tried it at Metro to pay for fuel and it didn't go through. Can anyone confirm at which fuel station does this visa card work?

    • @F1ProjectOne I've used this visa card to buy fuel, store items and gift cards at 7-Eleven and Coles Express

@WookieMonster Is Metro Petroleum different to other petrol stations?

      • +1

My question is whether you can still use a 7-Eleven Activ Visa gift card at a merchant using MCC 5541 / 5499 that is not 7-Eleven.

If so, then there are a number of explanations for the transaction being declined at Metro Petroleum, including:

        • The service station in question used an MCC that was not permitted. Keep in mind there are multiple MCCs related to fuel, e.g. MCC 5983 (Fuel Dealers: Coal, Fuel Oil, Liquefied Petroleum, Wood), MCC 5172 (Petroleum and Petroleum Products), MCC 5542 (Fuel Dispenser, Automated). An EFTPOS machine where you pay for fuel for automotive vehicles at an attended service station is supposed to be assigned MCC 5541, but it does not mean that the EFTPOS terminal provider will always assign the correct MCC.

        • The EFTPOS terminal was unable to read the information coming from a mobile wallet.

        • The EFTPOS terminal could be so old that it cannot handle contactless transactions from a mobile wallet. (I experienced this last year at a restaurant.)

        • The acquirer was unable to contact the card issuer before the transaction timed out.

        • The EFTPOS terminal was trying to charge more than the available balance on the gift card. For example, I have seen EFTPOS terminals say they will charge $75, but then when you tap and the payment is routed through the Visa network, they will add a surcharge after you tap.

Without any further information, it is difficult to narrow down what could have caused this issue at Metro Petroleum.

@WookieMonster Thanks for the informative response.
I used this visa gift card last night at Coles Express.
I haven't heard of Metro and just saw that it's around in my state.

  • Previous 5 on 50
