    Too much Torque

      …and not enough action!

  • I like and have a couple of Wera tools. But I am not convinced in their torque wrenches.

    I would rather get:

    SATA https://www.amazon.com.au/SATA-Torque-Wrench-27-135Nm-ST9652…

    SK11 https://www.amazon.com.au/digital-torque-wrench-insertion-SD…

    Tekton https://www.amazon.com.au/TEKTON-Torque-Wrench-ft-lb-TRQ6210…

    Depending on one's priorities.

    • Genuine question. What’s wrong with the wera torque wrenches? I brought one to use for automotive use. Just want to know if it’s worth cancelling the order and going with another brand

I like their normal wrenches so much that I have a normal one for unscrewing (it's best practice not to use torque wrench for undoing anyway) and for bulk tightening.
There is nothing wrong with their torque wrench as such, but others just offer a bit more for the money, the range 2.5-25 Nm… It is a fair range but others offer bigger one, fair enough if you don't need above 25Nm but I needed a bit more.
Also, it is a click mechanical one. Digital offers greater preceision and is more informative.
Tekton one is interesting - no spring! (Springs always go lose over time and need to be calibrated which is super expensive).

SATA is a nicer digital one and SK11 is a budget digital one.

        • That’s good to know. I didn’t get the above deal in particular. I found the 60-300nm torque wrench was on sale and significantly cheaper than Aus stores.

Just make sure it’s got the torque range you need.. eg most of my car work is above 25nm

My bicycle is perfect for this range 2.5nm-25nm

What about your Centerlock lockrings and your crankset?

      • I bought this set myself. I made the decision based on a YouTube video of all the popular torque wrenches being tested and Wera had the most accuracy out of them all. Check out the YouTube video if you are unsure which brand to get.

  • I use two W&B (Warren & Brown) deflective beam type torque wrenches for the ranges I need, worth it…yep
