  • Are these worth over ProTools from Supercheap Auto with their lifetime warranty? Where are they even made?

    • No idea, but I own the ProTools from SCA and have been very happy with them. I've used them on Subaru, Toyota/Lexus and Mini/BMW with no issues.

      • Do you have a link for those?
I had Stanley's which were great. Looking for a new set now.

      • I do too, but got put off by the spark plug socket as it straight up didn’t hold the spark plug in place and I dropped it against the engine and damaged…

      • i have protool and no issues but the new protool-x is nicer and 6 point so less chance of rounding worn nuts and bolts and quick release ratchets seems the dewalt is. also 6 point which is nice.

the dewalt is a great set for the money for those that managed to get one.

If I was after a cheap set, I'd take those over these because of the warranty. Quality should be pretty similar.

Thanks. Really didn't need it but now matches my powertools lol

  • So many one-time flexi metal heads. I would prefer 50, but at least made of Cr-V.

  • Where is the metric version?

    • Good point. Especially for a German product, but then again it's from AMAZON US

      • Bazinga!

I once bought a Hummingbird Fish Finder from Amazon US. When it arrived it would only display the depth in feet and not metres. The manual said that the ability to change from feet to metres in the settings was only for the international version. So hummingbird basically made two kinds of fish finders in the factory, one for the rest of the world that had the ability to choose feet or metres, and US version which only measured in feet. 😳

  • Seems we could really use some sort of standardisation. If usb c can be done, surely we can make it so we would only ever need say four different sizes when it comes to screws and sockets? Major design flaw.

    • What’s the advantage of only having 4 bolt/nut sizes on a vehicle? This will only result in either oversized bolts that are more difficult to package in a vehicle’s design or a multiple bolts in one location to do the same fastening job that one more unique bolt could have. A 1ton hatchback has totally different design requirements to a 15ton bendy bus.

Sockets are one of the cheapest tools used to work on cars. Scan tools used to talk with onboard modules can easily cost $4000 each plus an ongoing, expensive yearly subscription.

      • I’m thinking something modular so you can build a larger bolt with smaller ones to fit in-betweeners. If they don’t solve the problem, maybe they are not the right tools for the job? I get it you might need to make-do with the budget and whatnot, but cheap things are also easily abused. I believe someone somewhere will make and open source it, we will print them off at home one day 😉 Just how I see it.

If it's too small, you won't be able to tighten it. If it's too big it will be too easy to over tighten it. There's usually a pretty good reason why bolts are chosen at a particular size, and the head needs to match the size of the bolt.

2% claim, but only 4 left in stock.

    Amazon’s maths isn’t great.

    • +1

Now 3% claimed, and 1 left in stock ha.

  • OOS, but nice price. This is going for $199 at SydneyTools

    • Phew. Really didn't need another tool set :/

  • Awesome, got it before it sold out!
    Thanks!

  • F'it… 1 left, but back up to $227…
Can someone please call me next time $#17 like this comes up?!?!

    :(

    Sad now… hahahah
