Nice find - this price should put some downward pressure on the price people are asking for their clapped out 2nd hand RTX 3080's on Facebook marketplace….

    NOT!

    • FB marketplace is a funny place.

      It only has
      1. people listing 3080s at ~$1000, and
      2. people laugh reacting/clown commenting them.

Haven't been able to find anyone listing at sane prices.

      • i found three 3080s priced 550-600 here in perth which was surprising

        • we gotta go to perth, morty

          • @xrailgun: off topic but what b650 board do you think i should get, im getting a r5 7500f and i would like to upgrade to 11800X3D or 11600 when they come out

@Al Mawsil: LOL i have no idea. the boards/VRMs themselves should be almost all be fine.

the differentiator tends to come from no. of USB C, sata 6 (if you're gonna run a lot of HDDs), whether there's wifi, RGB.

go on pcpartpicker and filter by the things you need, then sort by lowest price and look for those with high amounts of reviews.

Ackchyually $642 is the ATL, although that was probably a pricing glitch rather than intentional discount.

    • +2

Yeah most people's got refunded and cancelled by the looks of comments, similar to the 4070ti deal that was $850 not really a legitimate deal

    • +2

Oh yeah I was on that deal lol refunded

I HODL for about 5 years to fail today.

    I hate when that happens.
Genuinely keeps me up at night for months afterward.

Playing games on the new card?

      • I wish!
Nah, it's the 'losing something you can never get back' element.
You can earn NEW money, but that money you 'lost' in the purchase is still gone.
It just eats at ya (well, me).

Agree, i feel the same about buying a 7800X3D and X670E board. So just buy stuff that your heart feels reasonable. Also dont impulse buy things. Have a plan and a budget and a target of what to buy when it falls under the price range. When you do that, you feel less guilty.

And most importantly, use the stuff you bought.

Life comes once. So enjoying is also as imporant. And so is saving for the future.

          • @[Deactivated]: Was it just an unneccisary upgrade?
            I went from Haswell-E to a 7700X on a B650E, and it's a monster of a combo.

Biggest change has been compression; I can't believe how much faster 7Zip is managing my files.

            • @MasterScythe: I gave my 5600 machine to my sis, so I needed another. I saw a few reviews about few B650s and read random coil whine issues etc. And I needed more NVME slots so pulled the trigger on X670E. Spent around 550CPU, 480Mobo and 200 memory CL30 6000. A simple B650, 7600 and 140bux memory would have done similar thing - drive 3080Ti at 4K. Probably the setup is useful if I upgrade to a 4090 class card next year.

              • @[Deactivated]: I ended up with this.
                https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650E%20PG%20Riptide%20WiFi/
3x NVME on board, plus 4x in a card (thanks to AMD offering 4x4x4x4 port bifurcation) was more than enough NVME for me.

7700X was a flat $600 IIRC, and I too got probably the exact same deal as you on the RAM, haha (though I've pushed it to CL28 @ 6200Mhz with only +0.05v on it… I think I hit the lottery).

Other than an overspend on the mobo, I don't think your purchase is too out of whack. There's much worse out there, haha.

                • @MasterScythe: For me pushing RAM wont make a difference for the X3D and I hate memory OCing procedure, so left it stock, already plenty fast enough.

    Anyone found any 7800XT deals?

    • Anyone found any 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super deal?

      • +2

Cheaper in some retailers than eBay

      • haha algo's not working out eh

but also, on topic, the $100 cap kinda kills the promotion for higher priced stuff.

        • it's been a tough month

On the topic, the discounted price is about the same after price jack

          • @AlgoTrading: been tough for mean reversion, i presume? momentums been killing it.

  • Yeh it's shitty that umart doesnt allow you to do a C&C thru it's ebay store.
