Isn't the whole point of a VPN to make you anonymous? Doesn't the cash back thing make you very much not anonymous?

Use a VPN to buy a VPN.

I would assume they then have to link the refund to your cashrewards account making you not so anonymous

  • surfshark or purevpn? both have similar cashback right now

I had Surfshark for 3 years from a previous cash back offer. I didn't not like it. It was full of bugs. Didn't work well for servers in Japan. It was also supposed to be connected to Argentina, but doing a reverse IP lookup, it was connected to USA.

Switched over to NordVPN and have had zero issues since.

      • IP geolocation databases are often inaccurate. Also keep in mind that Surfshark and NordVPN have the same owners. I use Surfshark and it's… fine. Never would have bought if not for the cashback, but PureVPN is worse.

        • I was trying to use my Argentinian Xbox Live subscription code and it just wouldn't work. I tried everything that I could think of for 2 whole days and it just would not work. Then I used the IP lookup and it said I was connected to the US. I then switched to the free Tunnel Bear VPN and the Argentinian code worked immediately - I could have saved myself 2 days of wasted time if I used something other than SurfShark.

          • @GreenLego: That's because they don't actually have a server in Argentina. Note that it says "virtual location", all they are doing is spoofing the geolocation of the IP to hopefully show that it is in Argentina. The server most likely was in the US.

      • Surfshark app was so buggy! Kill Switch didn't work correctly. Even when connected to servers in Australia, my pc was recognised as being in Korea, Singapore, US, Germany etc. These are the basics for a VPN Provider.

FYI, NordVPN is the sister company of Surfshark.

    • PureVPN it’s just ok. Windows app takes quite a while to load and only works via some protocols on wifi with firewalls. Only chose it because of the cashback deal.

    • Surfshark sucks. I have to enter captchas on nearly every website, some just flat out ban me for suspicious behavior. It's completely unusable

  • Does this VPN allow you to watch Netflix from other countries?

  • Anyone use this for Kayo while overseas? Does it work?

    • i tried last year, kayo did not work

      • Thanks, won’t bother then

Been using surfshark regularly since the last cashback offer. Yes, the captchas and occasional jumps to countries you're not supposed to be in are annoying. Doesn't work in some heavy restriction countries, shared the login to someone and it was a pain.
But, for the price you pay, no problem. Plus has Nigeria and unlimited devices, both a rarity with others. Add to the vpn collection

Surfshark is literally a scam. I have turned off auto renew TWICE by chatting with the support agent (as you can’t do it yourself) and now one month before the auto renewal it’s still back to active!!
