[VIC] 3-in-1 Garage Door Lubricant $9.55 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

280

I was buying a few of this last week after price match and 10% price beat at ~$8.46 a pop. I think Bunnings caught up and dropped the price to $9.55 beating multifors $9.60 discounted price.

Enjoy.

Edit: could be limited to VIC non-regional only considering the service area of multifors.

    showing as $14.95 for me.

  • Yep, $14.95 for me too - in Brisbane.

    • Vic only

    • Go to Bunnings web and set location to a store in VIC, i.e. Collingwood then get the product-price ready.
Grab one bottle and show them the price. They'll adjust it down to $9.55
      Worked for me in Adelaide.

  • $14.95 at my local, $9.55 at another Bunnings 6km up the road..

Sorry if this is a dumb question: how does this differ from Silicone spray or lithium grease which i currently use on my garage?

    • +3

Nothing. The CRC silicone spray works exactly the same.

      • +1

Can I just use WD40 instead?

        • +5

No, unless it's the lithium grease version.

Regular wd40 will be a very temporary fix.

        • +7

Standard WD40 ends up attracting more dirt and dust. Makes the problem worse after a temporary fix.

    • Thats what i use too

    • Did my garage door hinges, wheels, pulleys and tracks two days ago with WD 40 brand silicone spray.
This is no different. This garage 3/1 is $14.95 vs $13.95

      • You spray your tracks too? Shouldn't they be clean and dry? Thats why there are wheels.

        • Yep, tracks/rails. Same as I watched the garage door technician do to the old lady next door garage who paid for a 'service'

    • +1

Don't know but I've always used silicone spray on my rollers and hinges, lithium grease on the springs of my sectional and seems to have done the job.

Works out cheaper by weight at SCA (400g vs 300g).

Wouldn't the White Lithium Grease be the most suitable choice for lubricating garage door opening mechanisms?
This is according to the YouTube video on the product page you have linked above.

Can't seem to find what type of lubricant this is. SDS says it contains: Naphtha (petroleum) hydrotreated light. So, it doesn't appear to be Lithium or Silicone based?

    • Interesting, I always assumed it was silicone based. Naphtha is a solvent, looks like the lubricant is the petroleum distillate 64742-47-8 which turns out to be kerosene.
So probably does a better job cleaning old oils and grease off but wouldn't have thought it'd last as long as a silicone or lithium spray.

      • The more I look into it the more confused I get :D

This WD-40 Silicone Spray has isoparaffin (again kerosene) and Dimethicone which is silicone based so seems fair enough.
Then this 3-in-1 Silicone Spray I picked up from the clearance pile at Aldi only has Naphtha listed and no mention of any silicone based ingredients..

Before you apply this to your tracks, get a dry cloth and wipe/scrub the tracks. There will likely be a build up from previous applications and grime from the garage. Mine were absolutely filthy and it made a huge improvement after cleaning and then lubricating.

Is this a water based lubricant?? asking for a friend

A tradie recommended me to use inox: https://www.bunnings.com.au/inox-300g-aerosol-lubricant-can_…
He swears by it. What do you guys think?

    • Going to get one tomorrow

    • +1

Just brand names. Focus on the ingredients..lithium grease, silicone etc..

    • Don't know if it's better than others but Inox does make good stuff so it wouldn't be worse.

  • Thisstuff for your spring and hinges, and silicon spray for your tracking.

    • Heard about people using this one for garage springs and hinges, but it seems to be oil-based. How did it work out for you?

  • +2

I had no idea this was even a thing. How often do people do this?

    • I’m curious to know too. I just get mine serviced every couple years but if this can save me a service I should get on it.

      • +1

I just get mine serviced every couple years

I had no idea this was even a thing.

Do you know what the service involves ? I'm assuming the guy does more than just spray silicon on the rails 😁

        • Tightening the spring something like that.

  • Do you have a link of Multifors for price beat please? Couldnt find anything.

  • Which type of lubricant for vehicle sun roof if known please? Thanks

  • Anyone know how to reach the middle of a roller door? Think there is a bearing or similar in there and squeeks horribly..

Maybe a hose on a stick with oil down it?

    • My roller door screamed like a banshee when I first moved into my house. There was a coil spring midway that was rubbing and corroded. I opted for squirting engine oil at it until it was suitably drowned and it's much better now (for the past 4 years).
The process involved contortion, torches and milk crates and some coarse language..
      YMMV :-)

      • +1

        Noted…coarse language is a given..spring is the cause…right…cheers.

  • Difference between this and wd40?

  • Price expired? Showing $14.95 at my local and I'm based in VIC. Might settle for the SCA version or if anyone finds a link to price beat they can share?
