Im confused does this go under water or something? What make this "submarine"?

    • +3

it is a wet/dry vac so you can use it on spills.

      • Thanks

        • +3

          So more hovercraft than submarine.

Just to clarify a bit too, it's not a wet vac, it's a dry vac but the submarine head just circulates water within the head, it doesn't actually vacuum liquids, so more akin to a mop.

        • Just watched its video, so its brushes will absorb spill/dirty water and will keep moping with it. I have a Bissell Crosswave max and it has separate tanks for dirty and clean water/formula.

  • Can be had for $100 cheaper for those interested.

The one through dyson direct is the "Complete" compared to the regular model at all other retailers. With that you get the fluffy head (well worth the price if you have hard floors) and a stand.

      • I for one couldn't be without the fluffy head so thanks for the heads-up that they aren't included with the other retailers the fluffy head is easily worth the extra $100 for my floors.

Just be aware this these do not include some heads, main one being the fluffy head for hard floors

If buying from Bing, $939.06 with code TOP6BRAND at their eBays store https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/166260752994

  • is this a trigger or a button to turn on?

The year is 3050. Portable batteries are now driven by a mini fusion reactor that last 85 years on a single charge.
Dyson have released the v11billion. You need to hold the trigger button in.

        trigger to split atoms.

  • have they discontinued the gen5detect complete? no longer on their website.

    • +1

They usually remove models/versions of vacuums from their site when having certain sales, annoying indeed!

    What a stupid name !!

Wonder if a newer Submarine model is going to be released soon hmm

    • +1

I'm hoping it is. Australia post lost my submarine last Christmas after getting the price down to $940 so I've been waiting for another sale, but as always with dyson, if you wait too long, a newer version comes out

      • +1

Exactly, and being the first iteration of the Submarine head, I can totally see a new and improved one coming out soon. Dyson are really good at hiding upcoming releases too.

Sorry about your order that vanished into thin air, what a pain.

    From Choice:

"Dyson's V15s Detect Submarine is one of the best performers we've seen when sucking up dry spills from hard floors and carpet. But its main drawcard – the Submarine wet roller head that washes debris off hard floors – can be messy to empty and maintain, and won't perform as well as a dedicated hard floor cleaner. If you aren't fussed about this extra attachment, there are cheaper Dyson models worth considering."

    • I feel like sucking up dry spills on hard floors is a problem that's been solved 40 years ago. Like….any vacuum that powers on, will do this.

      • except some vacuum cleaners are a pain to lug around the house, need to be plugged in etc. makes a chore feel much more like a chore.

  • Jb had a cheaper gen5 a few weeks ago
