It is nice knowing your groceries aren’t being placed in direct contact with the filthy trolley. Imagine how many shitty diapers have been placed in trolleys.

      • +2

aren’t being placed in direct contact with the filthy trolley.

I disinfect my trolley before I use it….

Just grab a can of Glen 20 from Aisle 10.

        • I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that.
Except I use the eucalyptus spray. Allegedly…

        • +12

Lol…so you're the reason my local wollies stocks half full cans of glen 20

      • +4

Imagine having your fabric trolley liner bags get in touch with the same filthy trolley and then harbouring those germ fugitives in to your car and on your kitchen bench and everywhere else

        • +1

          Yep - scary, isn't it. 😲

And how is it that A Current Today Tonight haven't done multiple exposes of the 400 billion germs which reside in every supermarket trolley?

        • +1

then harbouring those germ fugitives in to your car and on your kitchen bench and everywhere else

The bags stay in one place in the car (which aren’t touched besides when shopping) and I would never put them on my kitchen bench 🤢 🤦‍♂️

Thanks so much, my mother was wanting one of these but missed out hopefully my order goes throw and she gets it!

    • Your welcome. My order was delivered today. No stores near me had stock so it was posted from an interstate store.

      • +1

Yeah showed me non in stock local, but after hearing this from you I should get it!!!

        Thanks again so much

Got one from Aldi a while back. Probably used them once. Biggest problem is that putting too much in them as some quite large, and weigh a ton. Awkward to transfer and take in boot and inside. Great idea but in theory didn't work for us.

    • Maybe putting two smaller regular shopping bags in the big ones would work?

      • That would defeat much of the purpose of these then?

    • This feels like complaining that a bowl is too large and is making you run out of breakfast cereal faster.

You do realise you can just… Not pack them as heavy? This is something completely in your control lol

      • +3

Thanks captain obvious. Never thought about that. Just saying the bags are large. Usually if in normal bags get 7-8 bags and with these 4. And one really large. Luckily the huge amount of cereal we purchase doesn't weigh much.

        • -1

You'd think it's obvious, I agree. And yet there are still people who pack too much until they

weigh a ton. Awkward to transfer and take in boot and inside

          • +6

@DiscountForThee: Yep. That's me. Especially when I just brought my 4 bags to the shops. But thanks again for pointing this out for people to either not do their normal shop OR just buy light items. Hang on. I finally get what your saying. D'oh.
            1. Plan my first shop to just light item such as cereal, bread, crackers.
            2. Go back to the shops after unloading my light shop, and must say with a bounce in my step. And even a little song. Not sure what song but just imagine it. Can you imagine it? Nah, that's ok.Before off course filling up with sturdy bags that I know would take the heavy weight.
Go and fill up all the heavy items on my second trip.
Come home and open garage. Look in my boot admiring and must admit, wondering how much weight there is in these bags. Anyways. Do a few pushups and even pullups to get myself ready for this. Best thing is. I didn't squashed the cereal boxes

          • @DiscountForThee: Its the Costco psychological trickery. Big trolley = people purchase more.

        • Usually if in normal bags get 7-8 bags and with these 4

Next you'll say that you make more than 1 trip to the car when unpacking your bags at home…

          • @smartazz104: At least 2. Have to make sure cereals haven't fallen out of the bags. But if I had big ones like on this post and heavy items with 8kg limit definitely 3. 1 where I take the bags that haven't ripped. 2. Get more bags and take to the car and use them. Swear about because cheap shit bags I got. And 3. Yeah you guessed it. The damn cereal was hiding.

    • +1

It's the same thing as carrying all the grocery bags in one go. But yes I do agree it can does get heavy but the convenience of it is great. Instead of trying to get all the smaller bag handles onto my hands, I just need to grab 2 on each hand.

    • I would say its a failed product

  • +2

So where to put stuff in while shopping?

    Bag -> Checkout > Bag

    • +10

      Unexpected Inception in baggage area

      • +1

        exterminate ! (In darlek voice)

    • +2

If you're using a trolley you don't bag until the checkout.

      • +1

Yeah amuses me seeing shoppers in Aldi (mainly) who don't understand how to use them arriving at the checkout and realising they have to empty them and then rush to the other end of the checkout to re-pack them

        • -1

disagree 100%. We dedicate the different-coloured bags to different categories (esp. meats, which you don't want to cross-contaminate with, say, vegies, ,or non-perishables).

At the checkout, I empty items 1 bag at a time when placing on the conveyer (takes no longer than lifting them out of the trolley) and at the other end they go straight back into the same bag.

Stoked if that amuses you, but it's always been faster than those people who stand at the receiving end of the Aldi scanner trying to decide which bag to put things in. Or worse, proceed directly to the bench after paying to 'repack' their groceries.

          ymmv

        • I'll buy these when AI takes over checkouts and scans everything in my trolley in one go as I walk out and charges my card automatically.

    • +2

I would assume you slide the bags forward to one end while you shop and once everything is on the belt, then you set them up ready to roll.

      • +1

Pretty much this, slide it all to the back of trolley. Why would anyone bag the stuff before checking out?

        • because then you've already sorted your groceries in the order of the bags they'll go back into. Takes no time at all while you shop; what's the difference between dropping it into a trolley or dropping it into an open-ended colour-coded bag in your trolley?

I see so many people at the 'bagging end' of the checkout trying to decide which bag things go in while their scanned groceries pile up. Since doing it this way I find it way faster to pack my scanned groceries. I hate grocery shopping; tweaking things like this to make it faster/easier is a no-brainer.

          But hey: you do you.

    • -3

      Bag -> Checkout > Bag

Yes. It’s not hard. Much better than putting your groceries directly touching the giant petri dish that a communal shopping trolley.

      • +1

But they were already touching the "giant petri dish" that is the community shopping centre shelf/display area etc.

        • +1

No shitty ass leaky diaper wearing children sitting/standing on shelf/displays areas at grocery stores. Certainly is in trolleys but.

Also far less people in general touching the shelfs than the trolleys.

          • +1

@PainToad: Ever see how many pick up something … then put it back… those hands will be dirtier than the trollies..
Ever see how many move 1 or 2 in front then grab the one behind.. those hands will be dirtier than the trollies..
Ever touch anything - including the trolly handle after you get out of the car to start shopping ? those hands will be dirtier than the trollies..

            • @Sal in SA: I never buy any item from the front, second or third row. Always from Row 4 or further back.
Also, the expiry dates tend to be longer for the items at the back.

            • -1

              @Sal in SA:

Ever see how many pick up something … then put it back… those hands will be dirtier than the trollies..
Ever see how many move 1 or 2 in front then grab the one behind.. those hands will be dirtier than the trollies..

You’re comparing items that may have been handled by a few people compared to a trolley that has definitely been handled by many many people.

Ever touch anything - including the trolly handle after you get out of the car to start shopping ?

              I wipe the trolly handle.

              But you do you.

          • @PainToad: Is that a common problem in your area?

    • You can certainly start bagging the items while you shop. A bit like organising your items as you go. Then unpack them in order at the checkout and bag them again in order.

It really depends how your brain works and what the item is. Some are easy to bag and unbag. Some you don't bag at all.

    • +1

They roll up and fit between the handle and the kids seat, dump it out onto the checkout, spread the bags and go for it

I've had a set of these since Aldi first released them years ago, game changer, I can bag up faster than they can ring it through.

      • That's why I got them.

  • +1

Why? To unpack it at the checkout …. to re-pack it ….. just a long winded way of saying the above comment ….. a bit like these bags ;)

    • +2

My wife uses these specifically when using the app.. you scan items as you place them in the bag and then you just walk up to the checkout, hit pay and leave… there is no repacking..

      • Which store are we talking about? I know the US (Amazon) is doing this but has it made its way down here?

      • Huh? Where can you do this?

    • You don't bag while shopping with a trolley, you bag once at the checkout. This is best for Aldi shopping where the checkout is a speedrace, they don't give you time to bag. You just dump everything in the trolley and then go to the bagging area - this saves you that job.

      Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yfm37BYHCo

      • +1

Nope, you are wrong. In some cases, (our local woolies for example), you can scan as you shop and place items in the bag and pay as you leave without removing from you bag/trolley.

        • +1

Not many Woolies' stores have Scan&Go, it's still being trialled/rolled out. Agree, these bags would be great for that.

  • The only issue I've had with these bags is they don't really stay together, possibly my fault since sometimes I seperate them.

but I definitely think they are still vastly superior to regular bags.

    Bought some more, thanks op.

    • Just noticed they have a mesh bottom.. I would have concerns they don't last or do they seem ok still after a bit of use?

      • Possibly. I thought these were the same as aldi, which I've got. Yeah I don't see mesh holding up forever like the aldi bags

      • Oops……. that kills PainToad's theory. 😂

      • Makes them easier to roll up.

      • I assume that even with a mesh bottom, each should hold a maximum of 8Kg as that was under the product description (though I have no real life experience of that), so one should keep in mind not to overload them. But as sarakoth pointed out, the question how long they will last? I suppose $4 is worth the risk?

        • If they're the same material of the bags that I've had (different brand) then they can last years, but the material is prone to sun damage

  • Bought one. Thanks op!

  • no stock in VIC

    • Mine was shipped from an interstate store. Free delivery if you have OnePass.

  • thanks for posting, got one!

  • Ozbargained!
    OOS

    • +1

Still showing available for me in both store and online.

      • Not available online in victoria! I didn’t check other states earlier

  • I know if you tried to use these in Woolworths their a-hole AI will send security after you. The level of surveillance is extreme. They photograph every move you make directly overhead, trolley, bags, wallet, bra size etc and if you don't conform to 'normal' they stop you for inspection.

    • +1

How do I apply for this bra size inspector position? Asking for a friend

    • Where's this specifically? Never had an issue shopping with a large bag

      • +1

Kippa-Ring, I went through self checkout with a trolley. It wouldn't let me check-out and made me wait for a staff member. He brought up this detailed photo of me my trolley and bags taken from above my head. It had stopped me because I had left a personal bag in the trolley while I checked out and it wanted it inspected. Was really confronting they could easily photograph your credit card, pin no, license, kids photos etc. Plus I really don't like a machine accusing me of shop lifting

        • +1

It's ironic because it's a loss prevention tactic however it'll turn people away from shopping there and it seems like that won't stop anyone actually wanting to steal from stealing

          • @lookingforadeal7: Yeah, I haven't been back. A lot of these shopping giants have become so arrogant they are happily building processes rude to their customers, and people justify it for them and call it progress. I am OK with surveillance. But there is no transparency there. There's no point where I was informed of how detailed the photography was to enable me to make choices and protect my privacy. If they are now or start building a facial recognition database, getting our name and address straight out of our wallet, reading the text messages and phone numbers off our phones and cross referencing etc. Are they going to let us know. It wasn't a supermarket, but I have had a shop assistant look up my address, show up at my home at night and harass me for sex before.

            • @tonka:

but I have had a shop assistant look up my address, show up at my home at night and harass me for sex before.

              What the heck!

              • -2

@rokufan: A long time ago at a Blockbuster. Woolies employees 200,000 people, you won't get me to believe every single one can be trusted with my personal info, and it was just the night time check out teenager that was accessing the photos of me.

            • @tonka: Im clearly shopping in the wrong shops!

    • +2

AI is no match for a pair of undies. Have a kids swimming lesson before shopping. Just chuck a wet pair of jocks on a bag.. AI picks it up..but for some reason no one ever wants to have a look in the bag. Nothing in it..but hopefully they will get sick of the "jocks check" ..and make it all go away.
Same with car theft/ beach theft. If you have to leave valuables… colour a pair of undies slightly brown ..then keep your valuables in that.

  • +1

Bought it, never use it. Too shy lol

  • Sigh missed out… been waiting for Aldi to do clearance on this item

  • Someone say bags ?

  • What problem is this solving exactly? Is this a meme deal?

    • +1

What problem is this solving exactly

      Lack of bags.

  • +1

Isnt it easier to just push the trolley all the way home?

  • +1

I use two of these tubs:
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ezy-storage-42l-assorted-colour-…

They fit into the trolley nicely and are easy to load/unload at the checkout (and at home).

    • +1

I came on to recommend the same thing. I saw it on one of those "mums are going crazy about this one item" clickbait article but you know what? They're actually awesome.

      • Haha, I think I seen the exact same article.

It is actually a game changer, especially at ALDI where you just want to dump everything quickly.

    • -1

is it awkward carrying 2 of them from your car to the store entrance?

      • +1

They stack into themselves so not really.

      • +1

I just push the shopping in a trolley as normal and pull it out at the car.

    • I like that tubs for myself as a bloke. However, a trolley full of groceries in 2 tubs will be too heavy for some. I got the bags for my elderly mother.

  • +1

No point. Couldn’t afford to fill up a trolley
