Looking for Smart Bulbs - Controllable via iOS and Android

My rental came with some atrocious downlight fixtures and CFL bulbs in them and my eyes water at night time just trying to see my nose. - https://www.bunnings.com.au/osram-15w-daylight-mini-twist-sp…

The downlight fixtures allow for bulbs about 45mm wide and about 105mm long, and I'm having some difficulty trying to find something bright enough and small enough.

I want to bin all the old lights and add some smart lights to my house. Due to the size of the fixtures, I was thinking of grabbing a bunch of these T36 style lights -https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004723790766.html but upon doing a bit of googling they are pretty dim at 6W (I could be wrong)

Is anyone able to help me out? I'm a bit lost.

EDIT - please no warm lights

A low-cost option: LIFX Mini White $9 60x60x105, works via Wi-Fi, no hub required, 800lm, 2700K, possibly too much girth?

    • That is a pretty damn good deal!!! I wish I liked the warm lights, but they just make me tired. I just looked through their range, seems like the cool white lights are all pricey as hell

What colour temperature do you prefer? Spend more and you can get adaptive lights that change colour depending on the time of day.

        • My partner and I prefer light around 5000K maybe even up to 6500K range.

Are these E27 to E27 extension things safe to use here in Australia? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003578088876.html

could pair that up with some of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005691821067.html

It's not my house, I don't particularly want to spend LIFX bulb money on it.

          • @tobi: White to Warm does up to 9000K, $44.99 for a 2-pack. Not terrible compared with Philips Hue or Ikea Tradfri which require a hub. You can at least take them with you when you relocate. BTW your lessor may not allow non-approved electrical fittings. I'm unsure about having both iOS & Android smart home apps running in parallel so expect others will comment on this.

Most E27 bulbs are 60mm, so the extenders sounds like a good idea for a rental. Photos would help.

You want the variable colour-temp bulbs, as I've not seen cool-only smart bulbs.
    e.g. https://connectsmarthome.com.au/product/connect-10w-smart-wh…

How many bulbs are you talking about? Wifi is OK for just a few, but everything will be controlled from a server in China.
Local control and not wifi is better, usually Zigbee but new standards are emerging.

    $16 https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tradfri-led-bulb-e27-1055-lumen…

I started out using my Amazon Echo as gateway to control a couple of bulbs. You can use any Zigbee gateway, like Hue, Ikea, a cheap one from Aliexpress.

I replaced all of my lights with Philips Hue. They are great.
