[VIC] RTX 4070 Ti Super DIY PC - 750W G5 Gold, B650M Wi-Fi, CPU: 7800X3D $2229 or 7500F $1949 (C&C Only) + Surcharge @ Evatech

320

Every time we post a pre-built PC deal we get hit with a bunch of requests to swap out a bunch of parts (cases being the most common) or asking if we can just sell the parts separately. So we're testing the waters with a few DIY build bundles to see how they fly here with the community. Surely there's some die hards that want both a bargain and the satisfaction of building it themselves in whatever case they dam well please.

There is a ton of sales and price competition from a bunch of different retailers slashing prices deep to clear stock right now, especially with the below GPU being $150 off SRP and places like MSY. Nonetheless we've managed to beat the PCPP pricing by at least $150 more.

All that being said, if you dont mind foregoing 2/3rds of your manufacturers warranty period, roll the dice on what exact models of certain components you're getting and have someone else build it there's some real cheap pre-built deals from tech-fast up right now that for a few hundred more get you a complete system. This deal is more for those who are actually keen on these specific models, building a PC themselves and / or has a handful or parts they already they want to use and just need a good deal on the rest.

If the feedback is generally positive for this sort of DIY bundle deal we'll see what we can do about more in the future. Let us know what sort of hardware you'd like to see in them and we'll pass all the feedback along to our product management team to work their magic.

Yeah :( Sorry. It's a trial run. We'll do what we can do make the next one open to delivery if this all goes smoothly.

Customer support becomes a bit of a nightmare when you're dealing with customers remotely who have a system half built with their own gear. Especially with all sorts of different possible combinations and varying technical ability / communication skills. Dealing locally here in Melbourne first gives us the ability in the case anything goes wrong to say, 'hey, bring it in and we'll test it for you' without the headache, time and costs of two way shipping.

      • It's a great idea but factor in the risk because this draws a fine line between doing extra work for free if people fail to put the pc together correctly most of us here sure do know how but new comers or first timers may have trouble.

Not sure if you guys charge extra for any diagnostics required

Once the parts are bought user are to be responsible for any damages done if not installed correctly, if parts are faulty standard RMA

Just a thought as ive work at a pc store/whole sale

  • I like how 7600 either doesn't exist according to SIs, or upgrading from 7500F to 7600 adds the whole MSRP of a 7600 instead of like $20.

    • Is it the iGPU or the 100 MHz, or is it both that you really want?

      • +2

I'd pay $20 for an igpu for backup/troubleshooting myself

          Yeah it's super useful sometimes.

Stores love 7500F, I think they can get open tray from China and have bigger margin. You don't see any 7500f on retail but literally every store is using it in the mob.

I like the idea of these upgrade packs - you might get some decent buy-in with a more budget version, if you can swing it.

People who are intending to spend more money and have the skills/know how to use a diy upgrade pack will probably be more picky with their parts selection

Id be in 100% if we could get a msi project zero instead of the MSI Pro B650M-A WIFI Motherboard

    • Considering how only 4 cases support the project zero board (+ the board costs quite a bit itself) it makes sense as to why they wouldn't

  • I like the idea of bundles. Suggest there be two options in the MOBO:
One for MATX (default already there) and Mini-ITX. This should cover the majority of cases.

I know ATX and EATX cases exist but test the waters first with two options and see if you get many emails asking for larger ones.

  • Waiting for the day we get options for mini ITX mobos instead of full ATX

    • the ones in this deal are m-atx boards, if that helps

DIY seems like a very interesting idea IMO. That’s what NZXT has done with their BLD kits and their illustrated DIY PC book, which is basically a fun little children’s-book-kinda guide for total newbies.

  • Also, I wish we’d get B650E/X670E versions of these kits, at least for the higher-end CPUs, as that would be an absolute steal by my books.

  • Any chance you can buy this kit as a pre-built PC instead?

    shots fired

    • More like salty, they're using msi for this deal which isn't some super high quality manufacturer that's worth paying extra for, they're average. TF uses msi frequently too, their most recent 7800x3d+4080s build also uses an msi mobo (difference being 1 less m.2+2 ram slots vs 4 ram slots here).

You can also add extra warranty for techfast stuff and you'd probably still save some money for a full build unless you can source the other parts for cheaper/bring from old builds.

  • Great Post OP.
I'm in NSW so can't benefit, but it's great!
I like that you've given core components and let people build around it.
Do you have the option of locals dropping off the rest of their parts to you and then you building the entire thing for them (at cost) ?

  • +3

Not just you guys, but when people are asking to upgrade or change or reselling components.
They're basically saying, stop giving us 5200mhz cl 40 ram, pcie 3.0 1tb storage, inwin psus and workstation-esq motherboards.

If its a gaming (power user) machine, the components should reflect that.

    • +1

I really couldn't agree with this post more. It needs to be pinned on every "Gaming PC Build" going forward lol

    • A noob question. What’s a good gaming motherboard?

      • +2

There is no motherboard option that impacts performance*

Motherboards are just going to have more and more features at higher pricepoints.

I personally like a lot of storage, fan headers and a reasonable foundation for minor overclocking, so having 3 m.2 slots + 6 sata, 4 fan headers and good headsink contact on the power delivering capacitors to the cpu.

Others may want more connectivity, so they will want more usb options, wifi/bluetooth, etc.

        • thanks for the reply mate. what motherboard are you using right now?
