  • great price, good reviews on the unit too… thanks OP

    edit: ordered, thankyou! :)

  • Yeah been thinking of upgrading my ST3 looks like a good way to go about it. Connecting me and the missus phones to the same unit will be useful too.

  • amazing price - good job

  • Yep, agreed - great price. I have this unit, works well.

  • I'm often in phone conferences while in the car and I'm worried about other participants hearing vehicle noises. There doesn't seem to be a mute function but anyone who has used this, can they comment on the quality of the call for people on the other end? I'm sure they've thought about this since it's a purpose built car handsfree unit, but I'd like to know if anyone has feedback (heh) on this.

  • Very relevant with these new NSW road rules, or lets say old rules but forced implementation.
One of the rules not given here is,
No holding your mobile phone in the car: The new laws make it clear that a driver in a moving or stationary vehicle (unless parked) MUST NOT HOLD a phone in their hand other than to pass the phone to a passenger.

    http://www.mynrmacommunity.com/motoring/2008/06/30/road-rule…

Also any feedback on www.N1wireless.com ?

    • +1

No holding your mobile phone in the car

In Victoria, you can get booked for having the phone in your lap or the seat next to you, even if you didn't use it… it must either be off, or in a holder…

    • The safety factor is really what triggered it for me, I've handled my phone to put it on speaker or mute and a neat handsfree unit like this is ideal.

Regarding N1 Wireless, Web Of Trust has a low confidence but positive rating: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/www.n1wireless.com. Previous deal was received well an OP said they have a good reputation: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82994.

The order form was decent and reading through their T&Cs nothing unusual, though they do mention they don't ship outside US & Canada, something they probably haven't updated given international post calculator and ability to choose any country.

  • Good price.

Also, I highly recommended this -> Octopus OCTOBT3 Solar Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit
I have been used it for 2 years and still working strong. Even I keep it charging for 8 hours everyday under strong sunshine and hot like a boiled egg every time I touch it. :p
Also it can sync the contact list with my iphone and triggering SIRI by pressing the button once on it.

  • cheap as chips.. I bought one as well. Thanks! now i won't have to use my stupid tomtoms Bluetooth.

  • +1

FYI the prices in the title are USD … even cheaper when you switch the currency on the site to AUD :)

    • +1

makes no difference at the checkout.

  • +1

    Damnit… already bought it…

"The BlueAnt S4's lack of its own internal voice dialer is a bit of a black mark on BlueAnt's claim of the device being the first "true" hands-free system, putting the speakerphone at the mercy of the capabilities of phone with which it is paired. Users of, for example, Android phones will find this to be quite an annoyance. "

sure there will be some type of work around though…
    might be an old article…

    • +1

I was reading about it before and there's some voice command you can give that it turns on the voice commands on your phone through vlingo, where you can use the voice dialling through there. Sounds clunky, but their claim holds up. It probably wouldn't be too difficult to use in reality once you're used to it.

    • +1

I think a lot of reviews were written around the time of Android 2.2 and since then there has been a multitude of improvements to voice recognition on phones (across Android/iOS/Windows Phone).

For example, Windows Phone isn't even mentioned as being supported but online people are commenting that it works flawlessly.

    Fantastic unit and Great price!!
Been using mine for a few months now and no complaints at all..
Cheapest in AU is however $56.70 from Mobileciti after using ACC30OFF code.. $20 more for local.. Take your pick.

    • Thanks for advising of this but code doesn't work?

  • Do I need this if my car radio has a Aux audio input?

  • +5

Anyone ordering, make sure you click on the "Like us for a free charger" accessory.

  • how does the s4 go with the current Galaxy Nexus in terms of voice dialling and receiving calls

    cheers

  • Great price. I've had it for about 18 months (after upgrading from a S3), it generally works quite well.

One annoyance I've had with it which wasn't a problem with the S3 is that it fairly regularly doesn't recognize you've entered the vehicle so doesn't automatically connect with your phone.

In such a case you just have to hit the power button manually at which point it connects, which is kind of annoying.

  • a bit cheaper if u set the currency to AUD
EDIT: nvm if you get the free charger above you won't save 80c by setting it to AUD

  • Excellent job OP, ordered one

  • +6

Well, should have mentioned that its a open box content. Package content tab clearly states open box. Also website states that
" OPEN BOX items will not carry the manufacturers warranty, for this reason we highly recommend purchasing a warranty plan offered on our website through CPS WARRANTY. "

    From the website :

    Package Content

*Open Box S4 True Handsfree Voice Controlled Car Speakerphone

    Car charger

    1 Metal Visor Clip

    User manual

    AVOIDED !!!!!

    • I wish I saw this info before I purchased. It's very hidden.

I probably still would have purchased though …

    • So it's not even a factory refurbished product.

OK, just pretending bought a used item from ebay though.

    • +1

Warranty is from a US company, I don't even know if they would honour it in Australia, and even if they did, they would expect you to pay return shipping, making it hardly even worth it. If you're going to do this, use the Shoppers insurance on the credit card (eg: I use 28 degrees with free shoppers insurance as long as you keep the card in debit) and at least get 6 months warranty that way.

  • A great price for a great device

I bought mine a little over a year ago for $100

  • i bought mine ages ago - didnt pay this… great price great unit…

DONT FORGET IT DOES A2DP so you can stream your Bluetooth phone audio /music / ipod / iphone through it. (sounds ok, but you can do it…)

  • Thanks OP, just what was after. Just ordered 3x units for US$19 postage.

  • +2

shame, they do not support paypal payment

    • +2

+1, I'll have to pass this great deal. Not willing to pass my cc details to some strange website.

      • Whoa that's a bit strong, it's no stranger than most sites.

  • BTW, is there a currency conversion fee for international payment with WWS qantas mastercard?

  • Thanks OP great post and thanks to others who shared public reviews on this from other website. Ordered two! :-)

  • Shipping increased to $17??

EDIT: Nevermind, $17 shipping for 2 devices

  • Pulled the trigger on two - a cheap upgrade for the S3 that we had, and one unit was sorely needed for the other car. Awesome price for a top of the range unit. Thanks OP!

  • That's a bargain! I bought mine at DSE in June for $81!

  • Thanks OP….bought one

  • Thanks OP was about to get the Aldi one

    http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/bluetooth-car-kits/vivid-bluet…

Im sure the BlueAnt one will be better.

  • Reviews for the site are a bit mixed though, seems like theres a quite a few unhappy customers with their refurbished products.
    http://www.resellerratings.com/store/N1_Wireless/sort/date

  • Shop is in NYC. Hopefully it isn't under water. Also may be up to something dodgy: http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.n1wireless.com

  • +2

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but these items are "OPEN BOX" items and don't carry any warranty (you have to pay extra). So basically, they can sell you broken or damaged units and you have no grounds to return the item. Wish I had seen this before purchasing….

  • +1

Lodge a chargeback with your bank if they cheat you, it's that simple

  • They hid the fact it's open box, and has no warranty! Geeze, dodgy. I wouldn't have bought had I known. Not ops fault thou, they hid it quite well.

    • Its not exactly hidden, if you read the item description its there.

  • +1

just bought a second one. $55 from ozgameshop brand new if people have an issue with open box.

    • +1

can't reach ozgameshop website at the moment but I received an email saying $6.66 off any order over $30 with voucher code HAL666 till midnight 31/10

    • Out of Stock.

  • +1

This is a good price, although the 'open box' thing should have been more clearly declared.

I've had one of these for ~12 months, not a great fan of it. It tries to be too clever for its own good, doesn't play nicely with android ("downloading contacts….downloading contacts…downloading contacts…forever") but worst of all it takes a long conversation to achieve voice dial, i.e.

    You "Phone commands"
S4 "activating voice commands on the connected phone" (wtf? - like lets what's the most words possible to say 'connected')
    You "Hi galaxy"
Galaxy "What would you like to do ?"
    You "call joe blogs"
Galaxy "multiple numbers found for that contact. Which one would you like to call?"
    etc

My old nokia brick N82 plus motorola 505 handsfree was infinitely better; tap a single button, say the name and it dialled, every time, no delay, no annoying long conversation.

  • It says it comes with a car charger, but it's also got the "Like us for free car charger". Pretty odd. If i don't "like", i better be getting a car charger still.

Was thinking of buying, but borderline, the Open Box thing has tipped me over to not buying.

    • +1

The charger that comes with it is a usb charger but i just use the belkin usb to car lighter adapter and the usb charger to charge it in the car.

I think the like facebook one is a car lighter charger.

  • I'd be concerned that an open box item might be a return of a faulty product.

  • yeah, dodgy - sounded too good to be true

  • Just got two - thank you :)

  • Ordered it but due to the massive storm in the US Northeast I think at least a few days longer before anything ships (347 area code means it's New York City). I would add +1 week based on the news reports I'm seeing.

  • Got mail its already shipped hopefully all good????

  • Thanks heaps for the deal. My colleagues & I order 5 of them in total. The open box better be good otherwise, we'll end up having lots of identical paper weights in our office.

  • Received mine today. Its actually in a brown box and looks refurb. Its an ok deal.

    • Nice … reasonable delivery time too … hoping mine comes soon also then :)

    • Received mine today as well, got the std car charger with USB socket (for use with supplied cable) and an extra for the like! Score!

    • did you have to sign for it?

just wondering if i should call the wife and give her the heads up…

  • I received mine within 5 days. But it can't pair with my android phone; tried 2 different phones. It says no phone found. Anyone has idea what could be wrong?

    • have you paired your phones with any headset before?

typically you need to put the headset into discovery mode by holding down a button till it flashes green/red or fast or whatever, then you can find them…

      if all else fails, RTFM?

    • I received mine yesterday & have to muck around bit but in end successfully paired it with my new Samsung S3.
      1. Slide the power switch on the side of the S4 to the ON position.
      2. If this is the first time you have used the S4 it will go straight to pairing mode. The voice prompts will start to
talk you through the pairing process and the light will fl ash blue.
For subsequent pairings, say BlueAnt Speak To Me, wait for the S4 to ask you to Say A Command and then
      say Pair Me.
      3. Follow the voice prompts to pair the S4 with your phone. The pairing code is 0000 (four zeros).

    • It took me about 5 minutes to realise that the command to pair is unsurprisingly not "Am I connected?" but "Pair Me". I was getting a little concerned but worked without a hitch after.

  • Very impressed with N1 Wireless, the open box condition had me worried but it turned up in a nondescript cardboard box with a car-charger (even though I forgot to ask for one). Mine was in brand new condition, no scratches or marks and still had the protective plastic cover on it. Basically it's every bit new except in OEM packaging. Shipping was very quick and mine even got delivered on Sunday especially considering the aftermath of Sandy.

The "Designed in Australia" sticker is a bit weird to see, considering I could get it delivered from New York far cheaper than I could anywhere locally (DSE/JB selling for $129~).

Yet to test call performance but I'm confident after reading the reviews on it. Working flawlessly with inbuilt phone commands on Windows Phone 7.5 - it will read aloud incoming messages and I can dictate messages to the phone. To trigger a new SMS, I just say "BlueAnt speak to me" then "Phone Commands". It is a truly handsfree solution, no need to touch a button to make/receive calls and texts.

Tempted to pick up another at this price but certainly no need yet.

  • +2

received mine today , second hand , even when I tried call back command it started to ring a number in America . very disappointed

  • OP here, Got mine today in a brown cardboard box, Connected to my BlackBerry in under 1 min. as it went to pairing mode as soon as I turned it on.
Tested in Car, superior sound quality. Havent tried all voice commands, but not very keen on them either,

The unit is definitively second hand, as it has buff mark on the front.
I agree that the ""not new" was kind of hidden, but satisfied with the over all deal. Won't get this price for a new S4, local or shipped from oversees.

Anyone intrested in the full manual, can download from here

  • Got my 2 devices delivered today. Very happy with them. Looks new had the protective sticker in place. Thanks again OP

  • +2

Still haven't received mine yet. Am I the only one?

  • Got my two on Monday 12/11. Very happy with them. Plain package with USB cable and 12V car adapter. Both in "as new" condition, with protective plastic film still attached.

  • I'm still waiting on the 2 i ordered. Got an email on the 1st November saying they had been sent

  • same, and was going to ask the same thing too… if others are waiting, there is a tracking number, but not sure if that stopped in the US IE does it track it in australia…

  • I got mine today, definitely NOT new. Wonder how long it was last before breaking down…

  • +1

wow worst shipping ever mine left on the 1st of november but still not here!

    • Hasn't arrived either. Shipped 1st Nov

  • Received mine a few days ago.
Had no luck in getting an iPhone4 or 4S to connect. Neither of them have any problems pairing with other devices. For the cost of returning, I may as well bin it.

    • try it on someone else's device. (someone with a real phone :P) .. if it works i'm sure someone here will buy it from you at the same price (or if your in a rush less ;P)

    • Just make sure you're not using the "Am I connected" command to pair, rather "Pair me". That tripped me up but since it has been working flawlessly, I honestly didn't think BT would work this well.

  • Ours arrived today in a brown padded bag - no packaging. After locating a full set of instructions from the net, we had our two mobiles setup on both units ( we purchased 2) in no time at all.

Quality of calls are great, and seems easy enough to operate.

  • Finally got mine in the mail, set up no problems. They are definitely second hand with a few scratches on the unit.
Still fairly happy with it for the price

  • STILL havent got mine, left a question on there site today!! >:-(

    • Got mine today, almost gave up. Yours will arrive.
Mine was in boxed packaging, looks brand new

    • thanks yeah, got mine yesterday as well… mine looked like it had been used a bit… but seems pretty decent none the less.

  • When you charge it does an led indicator come on? No sign that it is charging on mine, thanks. Otherwise i've found it pretty good, after the slow postage!

  • Got 1 for me
and some as stocking stuffers for my new driver teens
    Reads texts outloud!

  • hmm… mine reset last night for no reason… hope its not the fault that someone sent it back to correct…

  • Item was dead on arrival, the business does not pay for return shipping.

  • I am still yet to receive mine, anyone else have this problem?

Anyone had any luck getting in contact with them?

    Cheers.

    • I didnt have any luck… whats your tracking thing say? if you log into there site it shows tracking info.

      • It says that it has been posted,

        But still in the US.

        Ive been stinged.
