Last year (2023) I signed up for a NAB Visa credit card (Platinum rewards) simply for the sign up Qantas bonus points. As soon as I received the points I cancelled the card. A month later I bought my airline tickets (Return) to Japan and paid for travel insurance separately (I didn't think about buying the tickets on the Platinum card for some reason). So effectively I could have received "Free" travel insurance if I used the Platinum Rewards card. (Worth about $200)
I'm looking to book tickets again for a trip to Japan in OCT/NOV 2024 and I want to maximise my savings by shopping smart.
Aside from free travel insurance and frequent flyer points are there any other benefits I should/could be looking at to maximise my purchase of airline tickets?
I really want to secure a flight on Qantas/JAL as soon as possible to avoid Jetstar again (I can't stand their boarding music and service levels) ;)
Thanks for reading. :)
Amex Platinum - Travel dollars, dining dollars (overseas & local), Lounge access, Accor Plus membership (plus points and travel insurance)
Also worth checking if you're close to Qantas Points Club with the points you earnt before, as well as this purchase
