Ricky Stanicky looks fun, will watch.

      It was filmed in Melbourne

Caused a bit of a buzz around, that was a fun couple of weeks seeing where they would be filming next, or seeing John Cena hanging around grabbing coffee in the city.

    Also available is Bottoms
One of the top-rated movies of last year as per Letterboxd and Rotten Tomatoes. I've tried to post several times, but kept getting flagged for trolling.

I can assure you, I was not trolling and highly recommend said film.

      Loved this one too.

So far anything I've watched with Ayo in it has been great; Theatre Camp, The Bear

    • I thought that movie was terrible - not funny and with annoying characters. If you’re going to go over-the-top, at least make it smart, not just have characters doing and saying stupid things and thinking it’s funny!

      • Oh, sorry. I forgot to check your individual response to the film before making my comment. Apologies. Satire is difficult sometimes.

Also been eagerly awaiting Are You There God…
Same director as Edge of Seventeen for those who remember and enjoyed that movie from a few years back

Also, Scrooge, you don't seem to be a movie guy. Worth putting a Letterboxd score when sourcing data for movies.

Even if you don't personally use the site, I find it a far better source for movie quality than Goodreads

    • You seem to know your movies. You are right, I am not a movie guy. Occasionally when I have time I watch a movie.

That's okay. Just trying to draw your attention to the scores you've listed underneath Are You There God

McGregor has such a douchey persona now im avoiding it for that reason alone. Otherwise wouldve given it a watch as Gyllenhal seems decent

    • You got downvoted by Irish fanboys

  • Retribution has already been on Prime for a couple of weeks now

  • -1

Can't say if wanna watch any of those.

    • Thanks for leaving a comment telling us that you can't say

I take it that "The Boys in the Boat" isn't the same as "The Little Man in the Boat".

  • Mcdeal you’ve done it again ✅✅✅

Thanks, I'll grab a month of Prime in a couple of weeks. I hope they do the "I must, I must, I must increase my bust" exercises from the novel Are You There God.. I remember doing them as a pre-teen back in the '80s :D

Oh damn. Thought Roadhouse was the original, and I’ve never seen it despite being a child of the 80’s. 😔

    • +2

It's on the MGM streaming add-on to Prime, which you can get a free 7-day trial.
It's an absolute classic, I watched it twice in a row last weekend 😅

      • +1

        It's included on Prime

  • The Boys in the Boat, do they really think people are going to care about some rich private school boys fighting each other in boats?

  • Retribution has been available for ages

    • ROAD HOUSE 21/03/24

watched it on the day. havent seen the original which also popped up in recommended but yea here's my review. should of written this comment on the day but forgot.

uhh it started off interesting maybe up to 30 ~ 40 mins. but then kinda got a bit comical and I dunno.. not boring but not great either. kinda cardboard alpha male characters who you dont really care about so you wouldnt really be shocked if they all end up dead. other characters are also cardboard didn't wanna care for them at all. if anything good there isnt much "wokeness" so you wont have many wokies complaining about this movie in the comments.

conor mcregor is playing himself? I dont really follow him so im not sure but thats kinda the energy he brings when hes in interviews etc. funny part I thought was in one scene hes driving a ferrari, and then in the next scene hes driving a toyota yaris rental car with ZERO explanation. then instead of parking the yaris he just crashes it into a tree because hes so pig headed (and parking is so beta), so I assumed he did the same to the ferrari because he "doesn't give a f&ck". 😂😂

uhh so I dunno anything good to say? jake gyllenhall acted good and probably saved the movie. hes character is not that likable either though so you might think he ends up dead too. looked up the director doug liemen or something. he made great action movies such as bourne identity and great movie recently mentioned on ozbargain Edge of tommorrow. so compared to those Road house was a bit meh. probably fine if you have nothing else to watch and wanna watch jake gyllenhall vs conor mcregor instead of zonkyberg vs mosk.

——-> OH and I almost forgot. related to limen directing those great movies, THE Fing bridge scene in Road house. WTF were they thinking?? it was done so terrible I have no idea why the director decided that was a good idea when other epic action scenes were using CGI stuff to make them look real. man major part in the movie I cannot forget and worthy of taking a chunk off the rating.
