  • Is there any 1-year prepaid plans that includes 5G data ?

    • +2

      Basically try the telcos themselves.

Some mvnos do have 5g though e.g boost, Belong both do telstra 5g

    • +2

voda 240gb sim 5g $179 - FEBSAVE not as good as previous $125 deal & no international calls

  • Do they have Vowifi when travelling overseas and can you receive sms when overseas without an overseas plan? Similar to boost/telstra?

    • As far as I know, every telco has free roaming sms receiving. It is sending where there are costs.

      • That is incorrect. I have Vodafone and they need a minimum of 10$ in your main account to get sms or calls while roaming. I also have Boost for which gets sms while roaming.VOWIFI didn't work for me during my recent trip end of last year.

        • I have received SMS while overseas on Vodafone prepaid, no problem. Never tried VoWifi so cannot comment on that. You dont need any balance to get SMS via Vodafone. Calls or sending SMS are a different thing.

    • Not sure about vowifi but you can receive sms overseas without any roaming plans. At least till last month it was working when I was overseas.

    • Nah, VoWiFi didn't work for me on the last trip overseas. Works just in Australia. Could receive SMS fine.

    • +1

I'm abroad and on Amaysim, I can confirm that you do not need a roaming pack to receive SMS whilst abroad. However, unlike Telstra/Boost there's no VOWIFI.

  • I can confirm that boost is good while overseas. I had a year long plan. I could receive phone calls and sms with no issues. I can't remember this for sure but I think I could even make phone calls to Australian numbers

  • i just bought from woolies yesterday………

    • Was it the same price?

      • but no CB

  • Thanks OP. Great timing. I was about to buy from Woolies yesterday. This is cheaper after the cashback.
    Woolies deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833253

Edit: I just realised that the 200GB $175 plan does not include international calling. Whereas the $165 Woolies offer includes international calling.

    • +1

Yeah I think the Woolies one is better overall, international calls and lower renewal price if you don't cancel

      • can you explain why it has a lower renewal price thanks

        • Woolies is a $215/yr plan that is discounted, the ones in this deal are $240 and $300

        • Yep, the linked post is waaay cheaper.
          210Gb - $165 (link up top)
          240Gb - $225 (this post)
So we're paying an extra $60 for 30Gb of data. Total rip off of data prices. The $165 is waaay better.

Edit, with cashback, the $225 drops to $183, which is still $18 dearer, but you're getting the 30Gb.

          • @lordra: You also get 1000 bonus points with Woolies - so another $5 saving

  • Is eSim eligible for cashback?

  • Anyone comment if this would be worth switching from Boost to save the 50/100$?

    I’m leaning towards nah

    • Optus is actually better than Telstra where I live so it depends on your location.

      • Good point. Cheers. I need to recharge tomorrow so I’ve probably left it too long anyway

  • How long until you need to activate/port the Sim?

    • +1

      Coles Mobile says -

      Activate by 31 March 2024.

However if you want the cashback -

Cashback is ineligible on the following: SIMs not activated within 20 days of purchase.

  • @Op, usually, these deals are for new customers.
I can't find any fine print confirming this.

    I'm with Amaysim atm.
If I was to port out and back, who is a good operator to use, that I can get away with a low cost sim without the need to top up please?

  • Thanks OP good deal after cash back
