Good deal even compared with tilt-only stand version ($2499). But I'd prefer VESA-mounted version, if I ever needed this monitor.

  • insufficient qty.

if its just the stand, why would it say?

Explaining the joke doesn't make it funnier…

    • +20

Too cheap for an Apple monitor stand, must have been a price error

      • +5

No the price is correct but the item description is incorrect, it's only for the screws that connect the stand and the monitor.

        • It's only for the thought of owning it, actually.

    • +1

On top of what the other commenters have mentioned, stands for Apple Studio Display are not sold separately. Only for their Pro Display XDR.

Dang, this is a great price. OOS sadly

  • This or the dell 27 inch for $240?

    • +12

In your income I’d go for the Dell.

      • +7

000? Yes, I’d like to report a homicide.

      • -1

        Lol, that was IceCold!

Now i'm curious to know my anticipated income level and the income threshold for the apple monitor?

        • +1

You’re not asking a high IQ question like the Studio Display or the Samsung Viewfinity. Obviously if you think the Dell is a contender then you’re either poor or cognitively challenged. I erred on the side of charity.

          • -1

@Icecold5000: Lol, you're right. My original question was a joke. I already bought 4x of the dell monitors(confirming your original comment, lol).

I had my last monitor upgrade from another ozbargain deal in 2011/2012.

How long would the target audience keep these screens? Seems very pricey if they are turned pver everyfew years, although what isnt these days.

Cash doesnt go far these days.

Apparently I'm on a good wicket, circa 90th percentile but it sure doesnt feel like it!

            • +1

@hothed: Why would they want to replace them every few years?

              • @Icecold5000: Because he had to come with an obtuse reason to support his obtuse comment in the first place. For what it is worth, there arent too many 5k options in the market even today - I dont think you would ever need to replace this.

    • +3

If you need to ask, then go for Dell.

Apple is offer so much more features. Probably the question should be if a person needs it.

  • What the heck! That price!!

    • +1

It’s actually quite cheap for its target audience. When it first released production companies reportedly bought heaps of them. Colour accurate production displays aren’t cheap.

      • +1

As in look at that discounted price! I think it’s great value for myself at like $2kish. I’m sick of my dell monitor and yeah quality from Apple always keeps me going back. People baulked at AirPods Max’s but I swear by them

@v7dal: It is known as "Apple Loyalty Price" Please don't question the Apple Loyal Customers on the price, you will be "Out Numbered"😊 😊

      • +6

Nothing to do with loyalty, the regular Apple user won't even consider this monitor. But for those that need colour accuracy, tight Apple integration and peak brightness (graphic designers, video editors, web designers etc…), then this is the deal of the century.

This puts this deal up against the RRP of the LG UltraFine at $1899.95. $100 extra for 100 nits higher peak brightness, truetone, and a glass display (rather than matte with LRT).

      • +1

Most Mac users settle for a 4K display, usually dell ultrasharps or LG ultrafines.
5K is expensive. The 5K ultrafine is $1899 but it is very old. The plastic cased Samsung ViewFinity S9 is these days probably the most direct competitor, and is $2299 RRP. At this price the Apple display is definitely the better deal, it has better colour accuracy, and a much higher quality aluminium build. Its camera sucks though.

        • And the fact that samDung is a shameless copy.

  • +1

damn people jump on costco deals quick!!

  • +6

Damn I've been waiting for a deal on these for weeks. Can't believe I missed this

    • It may happen for a reason. Don't be disappointed. :)

  • I'm just curious what kind of panel this one uses. I know the big boi uses mini-led, this one just ips or the same?

  • +1

Build quality and desgin is on point. Display quality for the money is not.

    • Just curious what display beats or matches this for same or less money?

      • Samsung M8 (M80C) ?
        LG 27MD5KL ?

      • +1

For rendering text in MacOS… basically nothing

If you don't care about the DPI and want a different set of trade offs.. tons of things.

  • Too bad. Oos…(;

  • amazing good price for a great monitor, damn, missed out
