Maybe put that it's a bible store in the title so people not interested don't waste their time.

    • +35

Odd that we are not inclined to do that for all other stores but target specifically this

        • +3

If your browsing habits have you that stressed, then I have the answer: Jesus loves you, my friend.

Now if only there was a book store discounting products that help you find out more…

        • +10

20% sale on all items in stock on a particular store. how is that at all vague?

I also don't see why there is a need to label a particular store for what they sell if we don't do that for all others.

    • +22

I'm sensing that the actual issue is your irrational anger towards Christianity, rather than the five seconds you were robbed of clicking through and discovering a store that you weren't interested in.

      • +2

        Thanks Dr Phil.

Call it 1 minute - time that a person (who is not interested in and unaware of what Koorong sells) wasted of their day.

I wonder how much time they waste on other endeavours, let alone time they waste on other ozbargain posts, that causes them to claw back 1 measly minute of all the minutes wasted during the day?

If I waste 60mins on YouTube shorts, a 1min recovery from an ozbargain post ain't gonna make a shit of a difference.

On that note, damn I just pointlessly wasted 4mins responding to a pointless comment #facepalm

      • +1

Took you four minutes to type that up? Yikes.

I love the comments on these deals, will be back later for the lols

You know what they say, Koorongs don't make a right

Fantastic - I bought a few journals for my next course: Combined Arms Breaching and Warfare.

I find a strange alignment to the subject whilst jotting notes in a "The Lord Shall Renew" notebook.

    Cheers OP!

  • Thanks!

Bought a 'Satisfy My Thirsty Soul' journal for gym.

For those looking to save $$$. I’ve read all of these books.

Can summarise: God isn’t real. Some people like to believe god is real. And LOTS of people like to make money out of the people who like to believe.

    • All of them, you say?

What was your opinion on Warfield's works? Did you find Augustine's view of privation convincing? I'd love to hear more about where you land on the eternal subordination discussion.

      • +1

Warfield was a Creationist. Believed God was real. He was wrong. Summarised above already.

Augustine. Nah. If God is good. Religious people follow his teachings. Privation in this instance is absence of good. So religious people can’t do bad. Except. Religious people do plenty bad. Privation of good could lead to evil but it’s not 1-1. So nope. Fail. God still isn’t real. Being religious doesn’t make anyone more good than an atheist.

Eternal subordination. Is a great question. Religious go round in circles on this one. You guys tie yourself up in knots. Simplest answer is it doesn’t matter. The bible is a work of fiction. God doesn’t exist and didn’t have a kid called Jesus. There is no holy trinity. God isn’t real.

Now that’s so perfectly cleared up think of all the money and time I just saved you. You’re absolutely welcome.

If God is real he gives babies cancer. Don’t like him very much.

        • +1

If something good works for you, “It’s me” “It’s the universe.”
If something bad happens to you, “God isn’t real.”

No matter you read, you will believe what you want to believe. It’s not the books. It’s not God.

          It’s you.

        • +2

@mooney you've kicked a famous own goal for "New Atheism" there. For anyone playing at home, see if you can spot all of the following in @mooney's one comment:

          • "begging the question fallacy" (aka circular reasoning)

          • strawman fallacy.

          • red herring fallacy.

          • non-sequitur (aka it does not follow)

(hint: there are at least 7).

Sigh. The appeal of atheism used to be that it was the domain of intelligent and thought-provoking questions. It is little wonder intellectual giants in the field today write mostly about the sad rise of @mooney's kind of fetid lazy wordspew…

          • @MattyD: Thanks MattyD. ❤️

Maybe you can explain my atheism better than I can: Can you explain why all the other gods are fake? Not why yours is real, but how you know the other gods are false. And then why atheism is different to that?

Also. Please do specifically justify your specific god giving little babies cancer for the lols.

            • +1

@mooney: I'd be happy to discuss the incredibly complex relationship between original sin, the curse of suffering, ultimate love and redemption with you. And I would state up front - as difficult as it may seem to reconcile - that all human suffering stems from the fallenness of humanity. We are literally born into it. Until you understand the comfort and mercy of the Lord - the long game being played in the boundless grace he extends toward an ever-rebellious creation, you probably see tragedy and can only conceive of god as a genie who pointed a finger and went *pow* dead babies. I have many Christian friends who have suffered through unfathomable grief and emerged - like Job of the old testament - with their faith intact. If an understanding of the bigger picture is all that holds back the floodwaters of God's love then that is good news for you indeed!

But you could have found that easily in the bible, or the works of Augustine, or many other far more learned theologians than myself. And you've made clear your shallow dismissal of those. So I suspect that you're not asking from a heart that seeks a deeper understanding, but instead with a deeply held confirmation bias that needs to counter (even poorly) every conflicting view of faith in order to protect your beliefs. It's a story as old as time.

"'For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’" - Matthew 13:15 (NLT)

If I'm wrong about that, I apologise unreservedly. PM me and let's chat.

        • +1

          Dude.

          Warfield was an evolutionist.

Privation is a theory of the origin of evil. Not "religious people do plenty bad."

Given your track record, it's not surprising you also can't understand ESS/ERAS.

But the one thing you do get right is that you 'don't like him very much.' The two tenets of modern atheism are 1. God doesn't exist, and 2. I hate him.

        • If God isnt' real, 'babies get cancer, lol who cares?' - Richard Dawkins (paraphrased)
