plus 14% off electricity & gas

14% off what comparison rate ???

  • What are they like to deal with? I searched for "simply energy review" and came up with 1.5 star review and some links to complaint sites on the first page.

  • 24 month contract required?

    • Assume so from the term of the movie tickets but doesnt express say so in the T&C's.

Also no indication of any early termination fees.

  • jnav, If you do a little research you would find:

International Power Australia completed a buy out of EnergyAustralia interests in Victoria and South Australia. Subsequently, International Power launched the retail brand called Simply Energy in those two states.

In turn EnergyAustralia is a combination of TRUenergy and EnergyAustralia under the one brand.
    See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EnergyAustralia

Now IPA own among other assets Hazelwood Power Station in Australia.

    • that still doesn't answer his question though.

it's like saying telstra and vodafone got bought out by abc co. but no one has any idea what they are like in terms of customer service?

Their rates are a good 5-10% higher than another company, not worth the switch just for some movie tickets.

  • Anyone knows which company currently has the best rates for gas and electricity? I m currently with TRU n looking to switch

    • Red energy, I just sent you a PM.

      • Yea red energy is cheap at the moment

  • Im am with energy australia now and looking to switch, whats the best company/plan now? Someone mentioned red energy above, what are their plans and discounts? Thanks

    • 10% off electricity and gas but their are cheaper than others.

      • How much cheap? I dont have a smart meter at jome, so mo peak off peak

        • I sent you a PM.

  • I'm with Lumo Energy as they do monthly billing.

But I don't have any special discounts, which I should look into.

thats probably because you're not on a contract with them?

  • Based on http://www.yourchoice.vic.gov.au/, Dodo Power & Gas has the lowest rates and supply charges. Does anyone know what they're like? I read that Dodo Power is prepaid meaning they calculate your average quarterly consumption and charge you in advance.

    • It would depend on your location. And I'm with Lumo who do an estimation then adjust after 3 months.

So my monthly bills might be high for 2-3 months, then the proceeding bill I either have to pay nothing or a very small amount. Hasn't happened to me yet where they have greatly under charged then I've been hit with a massive bill.
