apart from the excuse of inflation and fleecing serfs, can anyone here explain why this has gone from $5.50 half price to $12?
5.50 per kilo was the old price and inflation has moved it to 6 per kilo.
per kilo? nah mate. used to buy these boxes from colesworth for $5.50 on special (or maybe less), then it it went $5.75, $6.50, $7.50..etc
just wanted to know if there is another reason for it.Over what timeframe?
Here's the earliest deal OzBargain was able to give in 25 pages of search results from 2018
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/368857
2kg box $8.25 on special - $4.13 per kilo.
Not 100% the same but Woolworths currently has some Biozet laundry products for half price including 2kg of powder for $12.
ALDI ones for $2.75 per kg powder. Just saying.
Can anyone comment on the quality of this (very) cheap Aldi powder

It's not bad and equal to Cold Power according to Choice.

Surprisingly, the cheapest Aldi one at $1.25/kg performed better in the test! https://www.choice.com.au/products/home-and-living/laundry-a…
I will give it a go.
Thanks JimB. I might give this a spin too.
@Lps: I'm not sure why Choice didn't test Aldi's most expensive powder detergent this time around- it usually rates very well (top 3).
edit- looks like they have taken Trimat Advanced Concenrate off the shelves.
This is possibly price matching Coles which has 2x2kg boxes for $24 at the moment.
